Lord Murugan
Born From a Spark
Murugan is popular primarily with south Indians. He is also known as Kartikeya, Subrahmanya, Kumaran, Swaminanda, and Skanda. He is the youngest son of Shiva and was born of a magical spark created by him. Shiva had Agni, the god of fire, put the spark in the Ganga River, where it caused Murugan to be born.

He carries a spear
which symbolizes the destruction of negative traits. His other hand is used in
blessing. He is a god of war and leader of the armies of the gods and very
masculine and fierce. He represents a
person of perfection. He is in some ways like the deity Mars of the
Greeks. He gives spiritual powers, especially the power of knowledge.
