Baoh
(All about a parasyte.)
What would happen if a parasite was developed that strengthened it's host and gave its host superhuman powers purely so that that host - and therefore that parasite would survive? Would the parasite be a blessing or a curse?
This is the basic premise behind Baoh, published by Viz. The Judas Laboratory has developed such an organism and - along with Violet, a 9 year old psychic - Ikuro, the human guinea pig has escaped. Now, they must be eliminated.
What this basically boils down to is a battle between our duo and the minions of Professor Hazyeye - the leader of the Judas syndicate. In the first volume Ikuro and Baoh meet and try to escape from the reaches of Judas. In the second volume, Ikuro manages to somehow merge with the Baoh parasite and eventually meets the organisation head on.

Even though I've not seen the animé
(yet) I reckon the medium would be better suited to showcasing Baoh's powers.
The story is as good as you would expect and the drawing and layout is decent
whilst not as good as something like Lone Wolf and Cub. To be honest, it's
not even in the same league. It's not a classic. It's more representative
of an 'average' manga that you'll find in a shop.
