Dragonball
(Better without the Z.)

I'm not going to write pages, trying to justify my opinion. But here it is: Dragonball is basically an adventure-orientated manga, with lots of humour. Dragonball Z is basically just an excuse for a lot of fights.

Dragonball was inspired by a Chinese legend - the same that inspired Monkey Magic.

Goku plays the part of a monkey-child and his adventure begins when a girl from the city runs into his part of the wasteland. Of course, this is a manga by Akira Toriyami, so as well as it being set in an environment where strange beings roam the land, you also get the kooky old man with some dirty amibtions; a shape-changing pig; some wierd humour, and loads of twisted adventures.

Some people seem to love this, some just don't find it funny. That's because humour is so subjective. I mean, it's easy to say if something is drawn well, or without clichés or has realistic characters, but what makes good humour?

I'd probably reccommend that you read the 1st graphic novel in a shop before deciding whether to start buying this series. That may sound like a cop-out, but I honestly can't reccommend this to everyone, even though I personally love it.

That's humour for you.

(But, incidentally, I hate the horribly censored animé.)
