Inu-Yasha
(Are you afraid of demons?)

Rumiko Takahashi is a master story-teller. Just like Shigeru Miyamoto with games, anything she touches seems to turn into gold.

This is her latest work to be published here, and arguably her best. It really sems as if there is no limit to her potential for growth.

Inu-Yasha is basically a light-hearted horror story. There's nothing in here that I wouldn't show to a young child of mine.

There's no gruesome scenes, no swearing or extreme violence - just a few monsters, a classic story, a bit of romance and truly wonderful story-telling which can be appreciated by all ages and genders.

The story centres around a (probably teenage) school girl, as most of these things do. In this story, she basically goes into the past, finds some demons, finds out about a crystal inside her body, destroys the crystal, and then finds out that she must team up with a half-demon who wants to kill her in order to collect every single shard of this broken crystal.

And so the saga begins.

Every single shard is a challenge to collect, and as well as a fair bit of action, the manga has a few moments where you can be genuinely chilled.

However, this is balanced by comedy and romance in the traditional Japanese style.

A great manga.
