Ithacan Web Log

In internet lingo, this thing here is called a BLOG. ('b' from web and 'log' from log) I call it a way for you all to keep up with my adventures in school and life. It is filled with what is important to me (maybe just for that moment even) so it better be important to you, goddammit. ~Joshua

All American Rejects, yes i love the punk rock (but its not punk, i know) : Media

I am sitting this Sunday morning on my chilly balcony staring off into the east. The wireless technology by Apple almost encourages me to be more techy. Today should be a more productive day than yesterday. I got up, I ate, I showered, then it was time for dinner, haha. Then last night we pregamed in hopes of people showing up at the apartment, but no one was available, so we drank anyway, and found a soccer party to go to. It was a chill evening. The night before Jay and I went to an 80's party. It was great seeing everyone dressed up. We were just about to run the pong table when I see the Po. I'm like, Jay, put the ball down, its time to go. Haha.

Today I have another soccer game. I scored last game, and they were a unity team, who hasnt gotten scored on yet this season. We totally tied them 2-2 the second half. Too bad they beat us 6-0 in the first half. I need to write a paper today on poetry, AP stylee. It got bumped to being due Wed, which gives me two whole days to procrastinate - dummy professor. I also play the part of car bitch today. I am running to the commons for some jazz thing, and then I am picking up Brandi and Becky from the bus station. They spent the weekend in SU, and I said it'd be no prob to get them back up the hill. Blub blub~

What else... hmm. Hopefully school will become more enjoyable. Nicole told me that i have the right to be selfish, so I am trying that on for size. Slowly but surely... And she told me that I have too much going to get caught up on the little things. Come to think about it, Nicki, I miss you and I think you are wonderful. Thanks for giving me the rundown on those nasty speedbumps. As for now, I will take my blue mohawk and get something to eat. Yes its blue, its subtle, but its still mission accomplished. Take care ya'll.

Yep, I know I haven't updated in like three weeks. I have been prioritizing horribly lately. I don't feel focused too well with only one film class on my plate this semester. So yea I will be more attentive to the BLOG. In the transitionary period of school thus far, things have been well. Inevitable speedbumps in classes and life and love, but its things as usual eh? Let's see whats been most exciting in the past weeks...

I started the new season on ICTV. I am field producer of the show Backstage. So far i have designed the opening and closing credit sequences. I am super excited for the shows to come. I also have been playing club soccer here. I have a game soon, so I will cut this update brief. I went to a field hockey game to see Jen Tordy play the Bombers (she goes to Oswego). Brandi and I met up there. We hang out some times. Thats always fun. Last weekend I even went home. I saw my sisters and my nephew. Me and the fam went to the Anchor Bar. There was an amazing jazz band there, the Jazz Example. Hey, game's on. I will take advantage of the mobility of the laptop and update update.

Old SNL on Comedy Central : Media

Yea, um, I thought I would be able to skip an update at home and just update after moving into my apartment... So Sat the 24th, me and my parents drive to Ithaca, and move in and everything is groovy. However, the school network has been down all this last month, due to the BLASTER virus. So yesterday after my classes, I FINALLY got online. I set up my Airport Network, still having a bit of network trouble...but I will get back to that.

So here's the summer recap. The last week was very busy. I finished painting my sister's basement, it took like 16 hours. The house is finally on the market. I got to say goodbye to all my friends, as they go off to school themselves. I took Baker to LASERTRON to play POLICE TRAINER. We beat the entire game and got the friggin high score. I bought my laptop, and my airport and my isight and my printer and my ipod, phew. But I love it. I went up to Canada with Marcy to drink. I was supposed to hit up the Buffalo strip with Mollie from Cheektowaga, but that fell through. So I rounded out the week with my Bestest Buddy Nicole. She will only be in town for a bit more. I swear I am going to visit her before the semester is up. So then I bid goodbye to Aaron and Kraft. I got my shite together and packed, picked up my glasses and left for school.

The apartment is amazing, its on campus and close to my classes. check out the pictures. theres the living room and balcony, kitchen and other balcony, spiral staircase, My room, with Jay, Kevin and Dave live in the other room. And finally the bathroom area. There's a great view of Cornell. We were planning a party tonight, but I don't think that's gonna happen, oh well, theres plenty of time left.

Classes are going well, I have a pretty light schedule for 16 credit hours. I actually got a new job on campus as well. My Medieval Art History professor hired me to help him on his website, who'da thunk. And I get to work on my own computer with Flash and Photoshop. I'll get the link up here as soon as I can. Otherwise I need to unpack and put up some posters. I will be online all the time now, if not on "CatchKohl IfUCan", then find me on "Book Of Kohl"

It's time for my monthly update, haha. Since the baby was born, I have been going into my sister's old house almost daily. Cleaning painting cleaning and moving shite. Emily has been helping out, too. We have gotten so much done, I have been so busy. My nephew is so cute, I love him.

Thurs the 31st of July I helped Elliott move into his apartment with his girlfriend. We ran errands got lost in the rochester back 40, and bought a hundred buck fridge. The rest of the week I ran back and forth to my sister's house. Friday night we partied Akron-stylee at Rob Owen's house. 15 cup beer pong, a quarter keg in less than an hour, and the guitar medley of "Rappers Delight," "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and "Tubthumper" filled our night. That weekend me and Kraft bummed at my cottage in Canada (Elliott was with his girly, and Aaron was in Troy.

The next week I saw American Wedding, GREATEST MOVIE EVER (AND SOUNDTRACK) I worked some more at my sister's house. Thurs the 7th, me Kraft, Aaron, and Nicole Baker attended the Warped Tour. I saw lots of friends, great music, and most importantly I got to meet up with Christy. She came all the way in from Philly to see the show (well not just the show). The music was great, the venue was horrible, just build the damn bridge so we can rock out in Lasalle Park again. Christy and her friend Leah and her friends Brad and Jeff spent the night and were off as quick as they came. It was such a great reminder of what I have at Ithaca. I can't wait to get back to school. So then Saturday we headed back up to Canada. Josh Aaron Elliott and Emily came with, my parents however did not. So yes we did take advantage, and did make the neighbors mad with our noise, but there was no harm. Emily showed us how they partied in Australia, Elliott and myself showed them the freedom of ones body on the beach and the lake. It was a fantastic time. A real good ender to the summer. We got home about 5 today. Thanks for coming up guys, can't wait until our next adventures.

Tonight I am gonna hang out with the guys, tomorrow I am working one of the final few days at my sister's. hopefully I can get my new laptop tomorrow too (G4 WOO). The rest of the week is finishing the house, and actually getting ready for school. I got my letter in the mail informing me of my move in date. I cant wait. I will get into THAT more later, but it's time to go, do , uh something - actually make a webpage for my sister. i'll update soon.

I RAN, by FOS: Media

I am an uncle! Caton was born on Sunday, he's cute as hell, but who would doubt. The pics will be up asap, there is a lot to be done moving my sister into her new house. The summer has really flown. I think i have the rest all planned out already, only about a month until I move back to IC, wow. But we'll see, I am sure I won't waste a moment.

So, story time. The details aren't as sharp in my mind, cause of the distance between now and then, but here goes. Going back to my high school for graduation of the '03 class was super weird, like superhero weird. I was quoted as stating that feeling like old news before, makes for feeling like REALLY old news now. I could't believe how many youngin's were up there, and how many of them will never be that old to me. With gradydation, comes gradydation pardies. It's really disheartening to see kids you never knew, young as hell, complaining about the kind of beer in the keg that you decide to not want to go near anymore. Or when drinking a beer you brought for yourself, you are pestered numerous times about where your keys are, when you didnt even drive, or have your keys on you. I eventually went only to the grad parties that i specifically cared about, and basically to see the grad, their parents, or the teachers that braved the storm to sit under a tent and eat fruit cups

Other exciting topping my list: Bubble Tea, Porn, and the Erie Canal. One night me and Kraft were galavanting, and caught up to Liz, Amanda, and Schnitz for a bubble tea. When I mentioned seeing an adult video store down the road, Liz was extatic. She had to show us THE FIST. so we go the the porn shop, and go in the back, and there are movies and toys galore. Sure enough there was a life sized forearm and fist, in peach or chocolate. I honestly can't magine a practical use for this monstrosity. But the shopkeep was jolly and helpful, he had some great stories about lube and whips, and people that return dildoes without boxes...

Another day, i get a call from Lynn and Andrea, asking me and Kraft to go bridge jumping. A big thing out in the country, you find a bridge over some deep water, and you jump off and in. Simple. So we drive to middleport (no idea where that is) and park near the bike path next to the Erie Canal.. We climb the bridge, 30 feet above the water, i'd say, and wait. We wait and wait, and finally get the balls to jump after Seamus(who met us there) did his famous backflip. It was a blast. Lynn insisted on holding Andrea's hand when jumping, and Kraft kept slapping his arms. We got some pics, so you will see. I think I will try and continue this pasttime, no matter how much my dad tells me to think of alternative hobbies. (I know for a fact that he has done worse shit in his day, so what the dilly yo?)

So this past Sat til Wed, me Kraft, Lynn, Andrea, Rob Owen, Ben Keller, and Jim Asmus drive up to Lake Nipissing in North Bay Canada,to spend a vacation on Rob's family's private island. It was a 30 min boat ride out into the lake, so it was really roughing it. We had electricity at night, showers whenever we could fill the tank with lake water, and all the space we could want to ourselves. It was a real great break. We ate well, we drank well, and we totally enjoyed ourselves. I did a number of foolish things on camera, so i cant wait to see how dumb I can be We boated, hiked, fished - Kraft caught this 3.5 pound, 18.5 inch small mouth bass, kickass. Thanks again Rob.

Upon arriving home, I learn that my friend from down the street, Emily, has returned from a year in Austrailia. I got to spend some time with her, before the flocks of people come. Today's a barbie for her in her back yard, but I have to work, dammit. I am sure after the hype of her homecoming, we will be able to chill like old times.

Last night, I was scheduled to see Shakespeare in Delaware Park, Buffalo, to see my sister's boyfriend perform, but I declined. I will be sure to go later in the season. Instead me Kraft and Aaron headed to Lafayette Square in Buffalo for the (free of charge) summer concert series, Thursday at the Square. Reel Big Fish headlined with Zebrahead, GOB, and another band opening for them. RBF was fantastic, as always. I even ran into a friend from Ithaca, this girl, Emily, who I call Medina, she calls me Akron. That was refreshing. We couldn't get in the pit, so we had to squash next to the fence. Kraft had this obviously homosexual male in front of him asking him if he could see, like every 2 seconds. I had the attractive redhead with baby blue eyes and dimples in front of me, yeahah. The ska and the people are really pumping me up for the warped tour. Ooh, Christy from Ithaca is coming up to see the show. It will be great to see her too.

Right now I am laying in bed. The sooner I get out of bed, the sooner I have to get to work at my sister's house. Then i have to go to work, where I am putting in my two weeks, and then wasting away my evening. I mean, its a real cool job, but the hours are really shitty, and I do all the bitch work. I can understand being a manager, but grr. Well, it was fun while it lasted. I think it's go time. I'm gonna eat, and go do ... stuff. I'll be sure to update more and more often, because I am sure the rest of the summer will be worth documenting and reading about later. peace out~

yesterday was the Dave Matthews Concert. I had a fantastic time. i spent 112 dollars, but hey. we arrived at Darien Lake at three or so. We'd have gotten in earlier, but Kane's jeep overheated and was leaking coolant. so we finally get to our friends already there, and we start 'tailgating.' four and a half hours later we go into the concert. haha, we had pong and stocked coolers, so i was feeling pretty good for the concert. In this time i ran into stifter, rafino, pete from lasertron, andrea, kids from ithaca, and this one girl from south america who insisted on taking my picture. oh and angela finger gave us a ride on her darien lake golf cart!

inside i saw the entire Bell Family working concessions, met up with jill snuggles malik from long island, obtained an over 21 bracelet, saw nick and bryann from lasertron, saw marcy and bill from starpoint, and the show began. Solid show, i personally applaud "pay for what you get" and "lover lay down." during the concert i saw cassie ezzo, laughed at this crazy dancing lady, and met up with izzy and lenny. But the highlight of the concert, is being hit on this 22 year old from rochester. she was actually the girl who asked dave matthews what his fav. drink was at VH1 storytellers, then bought him his burbon. she was hot, and real friendly.... i even gave her my screen name. too bad shes married....

after the concert, it was hell finding everyone then getting out. it was like an hour + that we were just sitting. then with a little traffic copping, we actually got the jeep out and around all the cars. we cut lines and got out in another half hour instead of a full hour or more. afterwards there was gonna be a party at jeff q's house, but that fell through, so we were all on our ways. i got home at like 3, hungover and thirsty for water.

today i have been bumming, i need to shower, then i'm goin to play putt putt. Nicki is gonna be around, so we will have fun. otherwise i am just gonna push through this week, i will be working a hell of a lot, grr. any way, be sure to keep posted, you never know when i will update!!

I have a lot of updating to do, even as far back as before the last update I posted. I think I'll start with right now. Its early, and a little overcast, but I am glad to be up, I can get things done today. I may even go for a bike ride.

Fri-Sat-Sun, May 24-25-26 Kraft, Aaron, Elliott and I all head up to my cottage in Canada. It was a fantastic time, the weather held out and only rained once for like an hour. The first thing we did was go buy beer, haha. I didn't even get IDed, I actually asked the guy if he wanted ID, and he looks around at the other customers, and his co-workers, and is like, "uh yea I guess." GOD BLESS CANADA, hahaha That was one of our three trips to the Beer Store. Our other time visiting the neighbor to the north was spent walking the beaches, playing guitar and drinking by the fire, and random tasks from my father. Like running to Port, or digging a septic tank, or carrying things back and forth to the basement. I can honestly say that we kicked that weekends ass, it was such a good time. Elliot and Josh loved the cigarette boxes, while Aaron appreciated the subtleties of Canadian culture. I like being able to enjoy the cottage with my friends in the same manner that i have seen my cousins do for so many years.

Between bigger events like Canada or concerts, I find myself hanging out with Josh Kraft every day. Me and him and Aaron will go for coffee and meet Elliott and Pete. Clarence Coffee House hosts some pretty good live acts. None of them know Dashboard though.

Friday June 6th Me Kraft Aaron and Jill Garrison all venture into Buffalo for the Dashboard Confessional Concert. We had a great time. We took the metro, walked around Buffalo, and bumped into all sorts of people. I actually saw a good friend of mine, but she had nothing to do with me. Regardless, we all enjoyed the music and the venue, but my knees did hurt a bit by the end. That night we gathered at Kraft's for a lil fire. But we saved the 'fun' for the next night.

Saturday we had a movie date, Me Kraft Aaron Jill Becky, and Brandi. We pile into Aaron's Passat, and head out to the drive-thru, er "in" to go see Finding Nemo. We get into this long line of cars, and head into the theatre. We see a woman with a megaphone, but don't pay attention. We get into the one driveway, and we ask her what she saying. Apparently she was warning cars that 2 Fast 2 Furious and Nemo were sold out. So we are like, ok, lets just leave, but we were already in line, so the woman is like, yeah drive through they will show you out. So we drive up, and tell the ticket booth lady that we are leaving, and we look for the attendant to point us in the right direction. We drive up, and hes like follow me, so we do. He walks and walks, and then he stops and waves us on, but we were nowhere near an exit. so we are all puzzled, but we see a spot, so we quickly pull in. We all freeze. We are like, we just snuck into a movie. HAHA. The next 30 minutes consisted of a heated debate on morals versus the great story you can tell your kids. So the Movie starts and we all get out of the car and sit and watch. Jill wanted to pay or tell them or something, but we calmed her fears. Aaron really freaked us out when he told us an attendant came by asking about people sneaking in, because they "lost a car." He was bullshitting us, Brandi put him up to it, but it was an awesome joke. Two of Kraft's friends actually met us there, they didn't bring a car, but got in fine... go figure.

Afterwards we invite the girls and Kraft's Canisius pals back over for a second night, but we do it right. (the girls declined) We had drinks, Canisius girls, and a lot of other fun by the fire. Kraft's RA Will from Cleveland came up with some friends. Kane was there, Elliott was there, it was a blast. Then those girls left, and it was weiner city. So I drunkenly and vainly called Amanda(who was in Michigan) and Kailey(who had work in the morning). So us guys waited out the sunrise, and finally called it a night. Sorry I didn't call you, Dave, to see if you could see the sunrise...

The next week I painted a hell of a lot at my sister's. I think it was like 22 hours. I also helped out Baker on her video projects for school (no its not cheating, I am just helping). The next friday, I was scheduled for a lock-in at work. You know, where a whole group of people stay the night in a place to be together and bond, and mainly have fun. So this whole Black Baptist Church came in and spent the night. So, I was working from Midnight to 9AM, then again from 4:30-10:30 that night. I crashed at my sister's house since it's only 5 mins from L-tron. Aw man I was F*ed up from no sleep, I swear I got lost on the way to her house (But I know the way and its only 5 mins and I have driven it a million times before) So I sleep for about 4 hours, and return to work. I was so messed up. After work I went up to the Relay For Life in Akron, and meet up with Josh Aaron Elliott Kailey and the such. It wasn't as fun as last year, but I bought Krispy Kremes, mm.

So back to My house go Kraft Aaron and Elliott, and what do we do? We finish off, or try to finish off the beer from the previous weekend. And yea I saw the sunrise again, it was shitty. I was messed up hardcore.

I have to work tonight, so I am not painting today, thank you... I think I will wash my work clothes, eat, bike ride, get gas for my car, shower, and work. I don't think I am doing anything after work, even though we never made it to Denny's, RIP Transit Rd. Denny's. What I am really looking forward to is this weekend. My bestest buddy is coming in from NYC to go to the DMB concert. So friday, me her mark and kane are gonna tailgate and such, and rock out to my boy Dave. I think Saturday I am going to try to get up to the casino with Nicki. I remember her saying she wanted to try her luck. I think shes in til Tues, so by Tues, I assure you I will be 15 pounds heavier from all the Ben and Jerry's I will have eaten with Nicole. Phew, I think its time to start the day. Take care, keep posted, and again, I hope you like the update Kane...
