Hi I'm Bill

I was born in Pittsfield MA and lived in Greenpoint NY during most of my youth. Joined the US Maritime Service at Sheephead Bay NY and then sailed with The US Merchant Marine where I worked my way up to a Licensed Second Steam Engineer. On my first trip to Baltimore MD I meet my wife Josephine on a blind date. After several years I went to work for IBM in Poughkeepsie NY as a fireman in the Utility plant. Worked my way through many positions in the 37 years I spent with Facilities Engineering to Staff Engineer.

A few years after retiring we moved from our home of 42 years in Hyde Park NY to our present home in River Bend NC where we are enjoying the climate and people.

This is one of the many woodworking projects I have been involved in constructing, it's approximately three foot square. When finished it will house Josephine's collection of birds she has collected over the years. It was constructed using poplar wood and finished with polyurethane. The picture gives the appearance that the project isn't square but it really is square. All the shelves and partitions are mortised and glued for more strength.

I also dabble in stained glass. I took a course in stained glass and the use of lead came and copper foil. Here are a couple of projects I have completed.

I have several more stained glass projects on the board but since I started building the family web pages the priorities have been modified.

I now have a 8200 Series Dell Pentium 4 Processor at 2.0 GHz with a 80 GB ATA hard drive. My printer and  scanner are combined in a Lexmark X85. Started out  using the Corel Web Designer to build the web page, but now I am using Front Page 2000, but thank goodness for the HTML classes I took at the Craven Community College which helped to supplemented my web page construction. I attend the NBCUG, New Bern Computer Users Group, monthly meeting which have been a source of information and help. I also attend the Web Design and the Graphics user groups which also have been a great source of information and help. With all this help I still have much more to learn but I enjoy building, or trying to build, web pages.

In January of 1999 our grandson (Chach) wife Serina had a boy named Charles 3rd (Tre) so we became great grandparents. Here is a picture a few days before Christmas 1999 of four generations.

July of 2000 our son Billy wife Grace had a girl named Kali Ann. Here is a picture of me holding Kali Ann. It has been a long time since I held anyone so small.
