Hi I'm Mary Catherine

I was born in Poughkeepsie NY and lived in Hyde Park NY all of my youth. While in grade school I swam with the Regina Ceoli CYO Dolphins and the Rotary Club Dolphines. I earned several trophies for butterfly, freestyle individual, freestyle relay and a medal for the breaking of the Dutchess County record for freestyle relay. While attending Roosevelt High School I participated in the Cross Country running, track and field events. I won a medal for high jump at the regional track meet. In my senior year I opted to take the bridge program so spent my senior year as a freshman at Dutchess Community College. I graduated from Dutchess Community College in 1980 with a degree of AAS Electro-Mechanical Engineering Tech.

After graduating from Dutchess Community College I went to work for Stone and Webster in Boston MA. After a few years I went to work for IBM in Poughkeepsie NY. I later transferred to Essex Jct. VT .

I have been blessed with two boys Jacob and Nicholas who manage to keep me busy. We live in Fairfax VT and this is a picture of our house that I spend a lot of my free time, when I can find it, working on the inside or outside. I call it a labor of love.

In September of 97 we had the opportunity to visit Disney World and I am not sure who had the most fun me, Jacob or Nick. There were so many different things to do and see that it is impossible to say one is better than the other. Two of the things that stand out in what we seen are "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" and the "Splash Mountain Ride " which we rode on several times.

One of our favorite pastimes in the late winter or early spring, depending on weather conditions, is sugaring at our friends the Chiappinelli's farm. We gather the sap from the sugar maple trees using draft horses and sleds. This is truly a outdoor family project from gathering the sap to boiling down and packaging which we all enjoy.

The  above is a copy of a picture from the Burlington Free Press of me dumping the five gallon bucket of sap into the holding tank for the 2001 maple syrup season at the Chiappinelli's farm. The article gave a history of maple syrup making at the Chiappinelli's farm.
