1998 BRFL Week 15 Results |
Stage is Set for Mo-Ha / Talbot IIIThe other game features Jackson vs Outlaw. Outlaw must feel relieved to be playing someone other than Jones/Klingman, as they have met three times in the last five weeks. Jackson will be a tough foe, he hammered Outlaw 63-22 in week 5, and started Outlaw's long mid season hiberation. 59 TAL SF QB

Best may not be very good at predicting outcomes of games, but this game
he had pegged a long time ago. After losing to Jackson 70-25 in week 11, Best told him. "I
just set myself up to play Talbot in the playoffs. I'll score 50 points and lose". 52 to be
exact. A league record for highest losing score in the playoffs. Breaking the record of
set by 96 wk 14 Deitrich 56 Outlaw 51 .
Talbot winning points came as expected came on Monday night from Steve Young, but his Sunday wasn't bad. He got scores from All three backs, Emmitt Smith, Terrell Fletcher and Ricky Watters scored. The big star was Terrance Mathis with 16 points, highlighted by two 60 yard TDs. Teams have averaged 60 points against Best the last five weeks. Best had another big game from Steve Christie and Minnesota D, but Keyshawn Johnson, Leroy Hoard and Bert Emmanuel didn't score. Best has no one to blame but himself. He picked up Terry Kirby to use against Talbot, but on Sunday chickened out on using him due to Kirby's limited touches. He also considered using Bam Morris, but started Bert Emanuel instead. Morris scored 8 points and Kirby scored twice on Monday, and his garbage time TD would have won the game. Best did not sleep Monday night... the splinters were too uncomfortable. |

Jackson had a very easy game with Barry. Rookies Fred Taylor and Randy Moss scored as they
usually do. Qb roulette selected Buffalo again this week and they were at least the most
productive of Jacksons quartet of QBs.
Barry usually has a very productive day from his QB, but Denver was stunned by the Giants. Jerome Bettis was nowhere, Robert Edwards was everywhere but the end zone. Ben Coates was at his mother's funeral. However Terrell Owens and Duce Staley did score. |

Moskowaski-Hale seems to expend no effort at all. They are closing in on the league record for
points in a season. Best scored 740 in 17 games in 1996. Mo-ha should do it with their first
score of next weeks game. They sit at 737 currently. This week they were lead by Marshall Faulk
with another stellar game (he has scored 44 points in three weeks) and the record setting Seattle D.
Seattle scored twice more on defensive scores. Seattle now owns the league record for defensive
points. This record has been broken three straight years (96 green Bay, Best 101; 97 Denver,
Stroupe 109), but the 122 points and counting may be out of reach for a while.
You have to go back five seasons to find an output more futile than the 12 points posted by Czupryna. (93 wk17 Wallace 37 Jackson 4) After two consecutive 60 point games, the Old Man was just out of gas. |

Outlaw is back! He changed his lineup for the first time in weeks, and Dorsey Levens got him
a bonus point. Levens has a long way to go to catch up with the production of backfield mates
Garrison Hearst and Jamal Anderson. Interesting note, Garrison Hearst has scored 9 points
the last four consecutive weeks.
Jones-Klingman tried all kinds of gimics to catch Outlaw. They picked up New Orleans D since they scored 18 against Outlaw in a week 11 win. They scored 16 this week. Another move, move, benching Torrance Small for a pair of Carolina receivers cost points. They failed to end the leagues longest final four drought. They only time they ever made it was 1988. 10 long years ago. |

Week 16 PreviewOne wife who is into this league is Anita Talbot. She is a fan of our forum. However, her husband and her father have been insulted in recent weeks in the forum by the Mo-Ha. Now she finds herself mentioned in the forum as an object of sympathy. "Make them roadkill, honey. Pick them by their heads and bonk them together like coconuts. I bet one of them was the one that peed in the chair at your draft." Week 16 is where the wives get interested. However... It could be the wives who are very disappointed. The crystal ball says the batchelors will prevail. 4-0 last week as I move to 44-42-2. One right this week and I clinch a winning record. |
Jackson vs Outlaw ................................... Jackson by 5 |
Two former champs vie for a chance chance to play for their second title. Rumor has it the commissioner thinks so little of his chances this week, that he is launching a cruise missle strike on another league. One target, Bud's league. Bud and Gates are playing for the championship. GATES? He couldn't win squat over here, Bud didn't light it up this year either. Are other BRFL lesserlights defecting to Bud's league next year for easy money? Hell, JK could be the 98 Yankees over there! When it comes down to it, Outlaw will be the former champion to move on. He has definitely followed in Ricker's footstep this year. Same kind of not paying attention mid-season boners. Same kind of team come together at the end. Can he take it all the way? He has the match-ups. Calvin is playing QB roulette again. However, Kordell Stewart is out of the mix. The third overall pick has been cut. Week 16 is no place for crybabies. |
Moskowski-Hale vs Talbot .................................. Moha by 2.5 |
So much has been made about Moskowski-Hale and their persuit of the record
for points scored in a season, but Talbot is right behind him and could break the
record as well. Mo-ha has 737 and Talbot 698. The record is 740. Kind of
the McGwire and Sosa of the BRFL.
This season, these two played two of the greatest games in BRFL history. It is a shame that they couldn't have played their next game next week. Another injury heals for the Mo-ha this week as Robert Smith is probable. All-BRFL Seattle D has Indy at home. And the Vikes QB's face a decimated Jacksonville team at home. For Talbot, some tough matchups like Steve Young in New England against two pro-bowl DBs. However, Emmitt Smith tries for his record against Philly at home. They say it's tough to beat a team three times in one season. How about in the BRFL? This is the fourth time in league history that one team has a chance to beat a team three times: Here are the other three times:
Not only has it happened, but it always happens. Mo-ha to three peat on Talbot. 70-66 sounds about right for McGwire and Sosa as well as a typical Mo-ha / Talbot score. |
