In the name of God, Amen, I John
Bradshaw of the County of Nottoway, being of sound and disposing mind &
memory, do make, publish and declare any last Will and testament in manner and
form following Viz: Imprims It is my will and desire that all my just debts be
first paid. Item. I give, devise and bequeath unto my tow Daughters
Lucy Bradshaw and Martha Bradshaw, the tract of land on which I now reside, also
my three Negro slaves, Jim, Peter and Viney, with the future increase of the
female, together with all my stock, crops, plantation tools, household &
kitchen furniture, and any other species of property I pofsefs, to them and
their heirs forever. Item, In the event of the death of either of my said
Daughters Lucy and Martha I give and bequeath unto the survivor, the whole of
the above mentioned property to her and her heirs forever. Item. Unto my
Son James Bradshaw and his heirs, I release and exhonerate from the
payment of the sum of Two hundred and forty seven Dollars with its interest,
which I have paid as his security.
This codicil made and amend to this will this tenth day of February, eighteen hundred and forty three, 1843, and is made a fact of the same, for the purpose of more particularly explaining this said, my will and desire is that my two Daughters Lucy Bradshaw and Martha Bradshaw should have all my estate of any kind, part & parcel as willed to them in my original will, to which this codicil is annext as a part of the same, and my will is, that neither of my other children, whether named or not named is to have any part except the two hundred & forty seven dollars with interest that I have release to my Son James Bradshaw, my not naming either of my other children is not to effect this will in any way, or give either or any of them any claim whatsoever to any part of my Estate either real or personal. As Witnefs my hand and seal the day and date first above written in this codicil.
