The Story...

Instead of writing out the little scrolling story that appears in the Prologue of the game, I decided to write my own, and to even list some things that are barely mentioned in Sotn about Alucard. WARNING: The entire plot of the game is listed here, so there are a few spoilers. If you want to play the game out and find out what happens yourself, read no further!

For years, the Belmont family had brought down Lord Dracula and his dark minions every time they were ressurected. However, in the year 1792, the current Belmont, Richter, had gone to the castle Castlevania to destroy Dracula like his ancestors did. Then he suddenly vanished...
5 years later, his sister-in-law, Maria Renard, went looking for Richter, and Castlevania appeared out of no where as if to show her the way.
Meanwhile, a half-human, half-vampire (named Alucard by the locals) was awakening from what was supposed to be an eternal slumber. He had detected his father's dark presence, and the fact that there was no other vampire hunter around to put an end to him brought him to. So Alucard took his sword and shield, and laid seige to Castlevania, in hopes of putting his father to rest, and to avenge what he saw as a terrible thing for his father to do. This thing, of course, delt with Alucard's mother, Lisa.
Lisa was a beautiful young woman, and somehow Dracula, that time Vlad Tepes, had fallen in love with her. She became his mistress, and in no time, Adrian Farenheights Tepes (later to be Alucard) was born. However, after about 10-15 years or so, the local villiagers found out about Lisa's relationship with the Count, and because she sold herbs to help people with illnesses, they thought her to be a witch. Ergo, they burned her at the stake, with Alucard helplessly watching as a young boy.
After that, Dracula took Alucard into his own hands, and raised him, but not properly. Alucard was furious that Dracula didn't show grief for his mother, but didn't do anything to show how he felt himself. Dracula brought out the vamperic half in Alucard, and by the time he was an adult, he too was feasting on blood. However, Alucard soon met up with a Belmont named Trevor (Richter's great-great-great-grandfather), and stopped following in his father's footsteps, and helped the Belmont defeat him. He then went into that slumber, only to be awoken nearly 300 years later to put an end to Dracula himself. Still, what he had done haunted Alucard, and his soul was divided against itself: one side good, one side evil, and it tormented him ever since the day his mother died.
Once in Castlevania, Alucard ran into Death, one of the friends and servants of Dracula. Death berated Alucard for going against "the Master", and took all his weapons and possesions away, leaving him as defenseless as a normal man. Alucard, however, wasn't defenseless, and his whits soon helped him to gain some weapons and a shield. Then he ran into Maria Renard. She knew that he wasn't human straight off, but wasn't too sure if she could trust him. They found each other again later on, and she claimed that Richter was missing, and she needed help finding him. Now Alucard had Maria's trust, and a new reason to go against his father: It was apparent that Dracula or somebody serving him had done something to Richter.
Soon Alucard found out what: in a "death arena", he saw Richter, who apparently was now "Lord of the Castle", and no longer the good man that he was. After defeating Richter's monsters, Alucard located Maria and told her what he had found. She didn't want to beleive him, so she ran off nearly in tears. After searching for a bit, Alucard found her again, and she was a bit calmer. She told him that she had to admit the truth, but that Richter wouldn't go over to the evil side. She gave Alucard a pair of glasses, and told him that they would see past evil illusions. So Alucard found Richter again, and wearing these glasses, he shattered the spell that was cast on Richter by the Dark Priest Shaft.
Just then, a second Castlevania appeared above the first one, like a mirrored image. Alucard told Maria and Richter to leave and go to safety while he ventured up to the second castle and finished the job. Once they had left, Alucard was alone again as he made his way around the mirrored castle. After a certain point, Alucard ran into Death again, but by this time, he had his posessions back, and wouldn't lose them again. Death chided Alucard again, and when Alucard claimed that he wouldn't cease his attack on the Castle, Death started to attack him. Alucard wound up defeating Death, and he moved on.
Finally, he found the place where the Dark Priest Shaft was in hiding, and asked him why Richter was put under his power. Shaft explained that for years that vampire hunters had used Holy Power to defeat the tides of darkness. However, he knew that Alucard was coming, so if two vampire hunters (Richter and Alucard) would fight each other, Shaft would be free to ressurect Count Dracula with no interruptions, and the two hunters would destroy each other. Alucard told Shaft that his plan failed, but Shaft laughed, and told him that once his weak human side was destroyed, he would see the truth. With this he attacked. Of course Alucard defeated Shaft, and just before he died, Shaft told him that Lord Dracula had already been resurrected.
Finally, after nearly three centuries, Alucard met up with his father. When Alucard told Dracula that he wouldn't let him leave alive, Dracula frowned and told him that he was unwise for befriending humans, and ignoring his dark half. Intent on killing Alucard's human half, Dracula attacked his own son. Alucard fought back....he had to, and deafeated his father. As Dracula was dying, he asked what were Lisa's last words. Alucard told her this: "She said: 'If you cannot live with humans, then do them no harm, for theirs is already a hard lot.' She also said to tell you that she would love you for all eternity.". Dracula smiled, asked Lisa to forgive him, and told his son farewell before he died.
As Alucard ran through the inverted castle and down through the original Castlevania, it began to disinigrate, not to appear for another century. He managed to get out in the nick of time, and he ran into Richter and Maria. Richter apologized, saying that it was his fault that Alucard had to kill his own father. Alucard explained that he had his own reasons for destroying him, and that Richter shouldn't worry about it.
Maria asked Alucard what his plans were, and Alucard told her that since his bloodline was cursed, it would be best if he disappeared for the rest of his life, and go back to his slumber. Maria, who had obviously fallen in love with Alucard, was crestfallen as Alucard told her and Richter farewell. As Alucard strode off, Richter told Maria to go after him, and perhaps she could save his haunted soul. Maria bade Richter farewell, and ran after Alucard. And perhaps, this could be where another story begins....
