In a picnic area above Lettomanoppello is a new statue of the 3rd century Pope Celestino V by Lettese sculptor Gennaro D'Alfonso. Pope Celestino V was Pietro da Marrone, who was for a time a hermit at the San Bartolomeo hermitage in Roccamorice. It is believed that he sometimes walked through the area and rested and refreshed himself at the spring in this picnic area, pictured at right. October 2000. |
