Below are photos of the funeral in Lettomanoppello for the six Lettesi miners lost in the 1956 Marcinelle mining disaster.  These moving photos, which were provided by Lucia D'Alfonso of Lettomanoppello, tell the sad story with no need for explanatory text.
MONUMENT TO FALLEN WORKERS
Today in Lettomanoppello, in commemoration of those lost while working, especially those lost in  the Marcinelle disaster, there stands a moving sculpture by Lettese sculptor Sandro Aceto, created in Maiella white stone.  To see Signor Aceto's 'disegni'--design drawings--for this statue, Click Here.
