The bell tower of Lu Lette's old church, unused for 21 years due to earthquake damage in 1984, restoration completed and the church reopened in 2005.  This photo was before the restoration.  In the distance on the hill can be seen the twin towers of San Valentino's church.
Lu Lette's new church, Santa Maria Assunta.
The old and the new--a traditional small vineyard next to the athletic courts; the wine made from the grapes grown here is for local consumption.  1989
1989: athletic courts at Lu Lette, quite new at the time, we think.
A small chapel or shrine beside a road in Lu Lette.  Unknown if this is a public or private building, or what it's purpose is--does anybody know?
Interesting white stone sculpture amidst drying bunches of chick peas, beside the road in Lu Lette, in 1998.  Sculpting white stone is a tradition that is still alive and well in Lu Lette, as evidenced by the little story on the hand-lettered sign beside the sculpture, which Costantino Conte was kind enough to translate for us:

"At Lettomanoppello a sculpting contest was held.  To this contest was invited a Hoeing Farmer, who is 75 years of age, and who has learned to sculpt.  The Hoeing Farmer still cultivates the land, and while gathering the harvest, he fell and broke his ribs.  This is why he has not participated in the contest.  Many thanks from the old Hoeing Farmer to those who invited him."
