Student viewpoints and reflections:

Here you will find the maiden voyage (in English composition) of 9th Grade KMLA students who are on the Foreign track. In other words, they are preparing for university study outside of Korea (as opposed to the "Minjok (National) Track" which prepares students for domestic, Korean university study).

This year, 2002, is our first year to accept students in the 9th Grade, and the first year to start a Program which allows students to begin their studies in September. The Korean Education system, much of which was inherited from the Japanese, usually begins the school year in March. To the surprise of many Koreans (and even to many teachers, here), the founder and Headmaster, Choi Myung-Jae, has somehow been able to forge ahead with this innovative system. Senior students, who came in under the normal 3-year program, have expressed envy of these new students who are allowed to get this head-start.

As with other pages in this online series, some of these drafts are going to start out somewhat 'rough,' at first. But gradually, as each students finds more and more balance in grammar and style, you should notice the revisions improving (do bear with us and return from time to time). Please feel free to respond to, and encourage, these new writers--by sending messages to their email addresses or through links found at the bottom of each page.
