Andy Hogue
Hello, All.
Hope you are doing well. We are. Katie is ten and Charlie is six now. That's quite a change even though our little get together in Colorado seems like only a couple of years ago.
Was glad to get the family back to Beijing last summer. I ended up being a bachelor for a few days in Taiwan, was on travel during the rest of the family trip home. Point is that during those days on my own, I got in a very nice little campout in the mountains in Taiwan. That was a highpoint. I had some other good hikes but only day hikes. Had some good investigations of older parts of Taipei with Keith as well.
We all made it to Bali for our family's biannual family reunion in June, or as I cal it, "get all the liars in one room." That was a time of relaxation in a setting that lents itself to doing nothing. Did a lot of talking and observing geckos, the big kind. The kids liked it also. It just happened that the Western Father's Day occurred during that trip, and on Father's Day I walked with me Dad down into Ubud through the rice fields and bought him a soda pop. It was about an hour each way.
Not much else, we did get to Kenting for a couple of days in the spring and up into the mountains to an orphanage my father used to work with some. Well received and so glad that the acute physical needs in places like that are not what they once were. Interestingly the orphanage has been tapped to take serious juvenile offenders. The love the troubled youth experience there is much more effective than incarceration.
We'll be in Boise for Christmas.
All of you, remember the reason for the season and sling some hash for the needy at your local shelter.
