Story Summary When Patrick’s father died of a
heart attack for lack of a local medical clinic, he determined to become the
doctor that his town needed. When a clinic was finally opened, he begged the
new doctor to help him realize his dream. Dr. Colby accepted the challenge and took him under his wing. During
this time, Patrick was one of the family, moving in with the Colby's and studying at great area schools. Colby, his wife, and his daughter saw him as a vital part of the family, and accepted him as one of their close-knit group. Now, after years of hard work, Dr.
Patrick now works with Colby in the clinic. He still lives with the family and has become an even more vital member of their clan. As time passes, however, Christa, the
Colby’s daughter, reaches her teenage years. As she goes through changes, the close friendship
between the two cools. Before long, Patrick begins to worry that Christa might be headed down a dangerous
path. The young man faces an uncomfortable choice at this time. If he risks warning her, he may be putting their already strained friendship in jeopardy. Then, as he chooses his course of action, he has another question to deal with. Where the heck are these new feelings coming from? Certainly, God knows that their 12 year age difference must make that
impossible, so why would this be happening to him? |
