Review: Pokemon Red/Blue
Start your Pokémon Game Boy adventure by choosing a tame Pokémon at the home of the great Pokémon master Professor Oak. Then start your journey. Your mission: Collect all 150 Pokémon, just like Ash, using your own Pokémon to capture others. Along the way, several skilled trainers, such as Gary, and many minor trainers will challenge you to Pokémon duels. To win the game, you must defeat them all.
Oh come on, as if you don't know what Pokemon is? Where have you been living, anyway? For those who have somehow managed to escape the cultural phenomenon of the millennium, here's the scoop: Pokemon are a series of incredibly cute creatures that roam the wild, just waiting to be collected, studied and trained for battle. It's your job to explore all over the place for different types of Pokemon and use them in battles or swap with friends.
The RPG aspect of the single-player game can be quite engrossing - there's so much to do and so many ways to play the game that you'll be finding out all you can about these amazing creatures and their cool abilities for a long time to come. What makes Pokemon such a craze is that you can link up to other players and battle with your own Pokemon and trade creatures over the link cable. You see, to collect all 150 Pokemon you must trade as some Pokemon can only be found in differently colored versions of the game. With its addictive collecting, trading and fighting elements, Pokemon is one of the best reasons to own a Game Boy yet.
