Duncan and Sarah probably met in the greet line, though they don't remember it. It has become tradition at Transylvania U. to have a meet-and-greet line during new student orientation. All the new students get in a big, long line standing side by side. (Their freshman year, the line formed around the Old Morrison circle.) To start the greeting process, the person on the end turns to the person next to him, shakes her hand, and they introduce themselves. This new student continues down the line until he reaches the end. The task may entail around 300 introductions and handshakes. The line wraps around then, with each student who winds up on the end turning and greeting the person next to her. It's quite a crazy process, getting to a point where one decides to purposefully forget everyone's name!
So on that fateful day in the first week of September 1995, Duncan and Sarah shook hands and introduced themselves. Although Duncan and his already good friend/future roommate Corey had been introducing themselves to each different student with a different name, Duncan says he most likely told Sarah his real name. His strategy was not to give the pretty girls a fake one. > |
