| Duncan had his eye on Sarah even before Sarah really noticed him. Sarah was too busy soaking in her first year away from home and all that went with it. She and Rachel, her roommate, were inseparable. One of their rituals that freshman year was to sit at a different place in the Forrer Hall Dining Hall each day. One day they sat at a table that was empty--except for a bunch of boys at one end. (The boys were Corey and Duncan with -- most likely -- Jason, Jamie, and Brian.) While the girls were eating, they couldn't help but overhear the boys' hilarious conversation. It was as if each one was trying to "out do" the other with a witty and humorous anecdote. Rachel and Sarah were not shy about eavesdropping and eventually slid their trays and themselves down to where the boys were sitting. Sarah considers this to be "Sarah and Duncan's True Beginning." Because of that lunchtime gathering, Sarah and Rachel started running into and talking more to those silly boys. Then they started going over to Corey and Duncan's room. Then Sarah and Duncan began their romance... but it was short-lived. > |
