Big Brother: San Francisco Episode
#1 THE BEGINNING The application process was over and the 12 people chosen to give up their privacy and live in the Big Brother house were eager to start the game. No one knew what exactly they had gotten themselves into. The whole cast was to meet at a studio lot where they assumed the house would be situated, but they were shocked to find no house but three SUV's in the parking lot. After their gear was tucked into the back of the vehicles the houseguests were told to get in, four to a car. Once inside they were surprised when they were instructed to put on the blindfolds that were under the seats. They were being brought to the new and improved Big Brother house and they weren't allowed to know where it was situated! After a lengthy trip the cars stopped and everyone was told to remove their blindfolds. They were greeted by the site of a gorgeous mansion. The cast would be limited to the ground floor as the second floor had been converted into control rooms for the cameras and microphones. The reality of the situation was hitting some of the houseguests. Once inside the house the excitement grew. They weren't allowed to explore just yet, they had to meet in the living room first. This was the first time that the houseguests got to size each other up. The younger cast members wasted no time and started flirting with each other immediately. The two older people, Marileigh and Cory, felt a bond as well. Just as the "getting to know you" stage was in full swing the large screen television in the corner came to life. On the screen was a man who would become very familiar to the houseguests, their host Josh. He welcomed them all and congratulated them for getting this far. "I realize that you are all anxious to begin, so why waste anymore time", he continued. And with that the Reward challenge began! "Since you applied for this game you are probably familiar with the show "Big Brother". Now we will find out just HOW familiar you really are. This will be a quiz on the previous Big Brother shows." The houseguests were instructed to take a button mechanism from the table. The guests had been so excited that they hadn't even noticed them. Once everyone had a button Josh explained that to answer the question they must first "buzz in". The houseguest who buzzed in first could answer the question. If they are right they get a point, if they guess incorrectly the next person who buzzed in got a chance. The first person with three points would be declared the winner! After everyone had tested their buttons the game began. Marileigh quickly got a lead, easily getting to two points. The rest of the houseguests started getting a hang of the buzzers and several got one point each. They weren't quick enough though and Marileigh got her three points. Marileigh was declared the winner of the very first Big Brother: San Francisco challenge. The houseguests were in for more surprises as Josh announced that they were moving directly into the first Head of Household competition. "It time to choose your beds! There is a bit of a twist though, the beds all have envelopes taped to the bottom of them. Most of the envelopes are empty, but ONE envelope contains the key to the Head of Household room. Whoever chooses the bed with the key under it will be named HOH! Marileigh, your reward is you get to be the first to choose a bed. After that you will all vote on who gets to choose next." It was a long process but eventually everyone was sitting on the bed they chose. Josh told them to look under their bed's and open their envelopes. After many of the houseguests gave disappointed looks, Heidi opened her envelop and a key came tumbling out. Heidi had won the challenge, she was named the first HOH of Big Brother: San Francisco! After the emotional and challenge-filled entrance into the house, the houseguest finally got a chance to get to know each other a little more deeply. The boredom of having no TV and no computers was hitting them fast! They began playing little games to pass the time. Michael was enjoying them but thought, "The games like Truth or Dare, or Never, have been great ice breakers, but I've found that there has been no time at all to get to know people in a personal, one-on-one kind of way, because there is always something going on." The flirting was continuing as well. The "laundry room" was designated as the meeting place for "rendevous'". Everyone was getting along wonderfully until something happened to break the harmony. During one of the many houseguest's chat-fests Alex revealed that he was gay. Most of the cast members took it in stride and were very supportive, but Frank's reaction was a little different. He was not pleased to hear about Alex's sexuality. Frank's lack of tolerance became an issue in the house, even after he personally apologized to Alex. THE NOMINATIONS It was time for Heidi to make her descision. As Head of Household she alone had to decide who would be the two houseguests up for eviction. Each houseguest had a key with his/her name on it hanging on a wall under their picture. Heidi was instructed to take the "Safe Box" and the keys belonging to the other eleven houseguests into the HOH room and make her choices. She had to place the keys of the houseguests she was not nominating in the box. She had to place the keys belonging to the two nominees into a small black velvet bag. After a lot of hesitation and key-switching Heidi came to her descision and brought the Safe Box and the velvet bag out to the living room. Before the ceremony began Heidi said a little speech: "Big Brother: SF, is my first online game. I wasn't sure what it was going to be like and whether or not I would enjoy it, but it turned out to be something I thought it wouldn't. The Host, Josh, picked a great cast. You are all a truly amazing group of people. I'm so glad I applied and got to meet you all. We all get along great and I can tell that there are more great challenges and a lot more fun ahead. These first reward and HOH challenges were so much fun and everyone did great! Though I was seventh to choose my bed, I chose the HOH bed and won the HOH challenge! I was/am very excited but a little nervous also. HOH is a big responsibility and involves big decisions. If I had the choice I wouldn't nominate any of you, but unfortunately I have to nominate two people. I took into consideration the roomates who have not showed up to challenges or have showed up late. It was hard but i eventually was able to finalize my decision". The process of removing the keys from the box began. After all the keys were removed it was revealed that Frank and Ayane had been nominated. THE VOTE The houseguests didn't know what to think about the nominations. They had all grown to like one another and deciding between two new friends would be difficult for everyone. The whole cast was subdued the day of the vote. Lindsey went to the Confessional Room to tell how she felt: "Well, tonight is the first eviction...and i am really tworn between the two nominees...i really really really like both of them and i hate the fact that i have to vote out one of them. I am really nervous that for the fact that we have to vote live is making me kinda sad. I honestly think i might break into tears when i vote." The mood was still down when it came time to vote. Frank and Ayane sat in the arm chairs at the end of the room. They each got to say a few words before the voting began. The nine houseguests who had to vote entered the Confessional Room one at a time and told the camera who they were voting to evict and why. "I am voting to evict Frank tonight, but it isn't for any terrible reason. I feel as if I haven't connected well with him and I can't live with someone that I do not connect with. Ayane on the other hand has been there and we've clicked from the start. For that reason, I have to say goodbye." "The first vote has got to be the toughest because we have only just begun to know eachother. Going into the vote I really didn't know who I would vote for. The deciding factor turned out to be that Frank has been feeling so homesick(i.e. he wasn't here tonight), so I think he may be ready to go home. So my vote is for Frank. You are a cool guy and I will miss you bud." After all nine votes were recorded the televsion screen popped on again. Josh announced the results: "By a vote of 9 to 0, Frank you have been evicted from the Big Brother: San Francisco. Please say your good-byes, grab your things and exit the house."
