Big Brother: San Francisco Episode #5

THE BEGINNING:

The game continued without Alex and without the Oasis Alliance. The others had sent a message that they didn't take kindly to being marked for eviction by a small group so early in the game. The remaining member of the alliance were afraid that their association with it would cut short their days in the house. Ayane was getting more withdrawn. She had got through another week without being nominated but that didn't help the situation.

New friendships were brewing and it was changing the landscape of the house. Cory was getting more involved with the others and the age difference was no longer an issue. He was able to be just "one of the guests". There were some tensions among the houseguests but nothing major, just normal things that happen when you are bored in a house together.

THE CHALLENGES:

The day was colder than usual and the houseguests spent the morning indoors playing games and laughing together. They were called into the girl's bedroom just before lunch. It was a short wait before they were instructed to head out into the yard for the Reward Challenge. There were seven sets of stairs set up in a semi-circle (tongue twister!). Each set had three stairs. The top stair said "HIGHER", the middle stair said "SAME", and the bottom stair said "LOWER". The seven guests who were participating were told to climb onto the middle step and await the rules. When everyone was in place Josh appeared on the big screen TV in the middle of the semi-circle.
"Welcome to the San Francisco Step Reward Challenge. I will be asking you a series of questions and give you an answer for each. Your job will be to determine if the right answer is higher or lower than what I gave you. If you think the answer is higher take a step up, if you think the answer is lower take a step down. If, however you think I gave you the right answer you stay on the middle stair. For each question you answer correctly you get one point. The first one to 5 points will be declared the winner. Let's start with the questions".
After a great aerobic step workout, Cory was the first to five points and won the reward. What did he win? That would be announced just before the HoH Challenge.

Cory had won yet another reward, and everyone in the house was happy for him. Reward Challenges were fun but it was the HoH chellenge that held the importance. The guests were beginning to figure out that the power position was a catch 22. They would be safe from the vote but they could also make enemies by nominating others. There were some in the group that thought the power was worth the risk, there were others who were hesitant.

After a delicious dinner the guests were once again sequestered in the girl's bedroom. This time the wait was longer and the group occupied themselves with a game of tag. The voice of Big Brother interrupted the game and they were told to head straight to the livingroom, they could go nowhere else yet. They all took spots in the livingroom. That wasn't easy considering the house lights were dimmed and there was very little light in the house. The television screen popped on and their eyes had to adjust to the light. "There has been a murder", Josh started
"You are the investigators. Your job is to catch the killer. If you are successful you will win the Head of Household position. Heidi, you are ineligible to win this because you were the last HoH. There are seven notepads and pencils on the table. Each of the investigators pick one up please. That is where you will write down the info you get and it will also be how you submit your guess. Once you think you have figured out the mystery write your accusation on the last page of your notepad and go to the confessional room. Here is how you are going to get your clues. Set up around the house are several monitors. Once you find a monitor put the head phones on and a "suspect" will appear on the screen. You may ask the suspect anything about the murder. They will give you information. Use all the information the suspects give you to narrow down your suspects. To win the game you must determine who the killer is, what was the motive, when and where the murder happened. There will be bonus points for other information as well. Once you feel you have all that informtion write it down in the back of your notepads and take it to the confessional room. You will be quizzed on the information and asked to make your "arrest". The one to get the most information right in the shortest time wins. Cory, you will find an envelop on the table with your name on it. That is your reward. In it you will find some extra information about the mystery, giving you a solid head start in the challenge. Good luck, investigators! GO!".
Some of the houseguests were very enthusiastic and ran to as many monitors as they could find, frantically taking notes. They were hidden all over the house, some in hard to reach places others in the middle of the rooms. Once the houseguest put on the headphones the screen came alive with a character from the story ready to give their side of what happened. Lindsey and Cory were quickly in the lead. They had gathered so much information their notebooks were almost totally full. Others didn't work as hard, in fact it seemed as though they were not trying at all. In the end it was Lindsey who was able to answer the most questions correctly, followed closely by Cory. Lindsey had won the HoH position.

NOMINATIONS/EVICTIONS

Lindsey had wanted the HoH position since she entered the house. She thoroughly enjoyed the private room and the snacks she had stocked in the private fridge. Now that she had the power she realized how difficult it was to choose two of her fellow castmates for eviction. She took as much into consideration as she could. There were no easy choices. It came time to decide and she brought the Safe Box and keys into the HoH room.
After some hard thinking she out all but two keys into the box and brought it to the livingroom. Everyone gathered around and she started the "ceremony".
"Well everyone, after thinking about it all day, i have come to my final decision. I want you both to know (and i know everyone says this whenever they nominate) that this is nothing personally towards the two of you. Part of the game is nominating, and i got the "lucky" position of doing the nominations. So here we go..."
The keys were pulled out one by one until only Ayane and Andy weren't holding one. They had been nominated for eviction.
"Andy, I nominated you because i feel that you and i havent got all that close with you even with how far we are in the game. I think that you are a great guy and that you are a strong competitor (when you compete). For both of those reasons, im am nomination you Andy. Good luck with the voting." Now for Ayane... "Ayane, i nominated you because while you were gone, i grew closer and closer with the other people in the house. You know that out of everyone, i got along with you very well in the begining, but that week or so that you were gone really "hurt" our relationship because i became closer to the others. So Ayane, like i said before, this is absolutly nothing personally, its just that me and all the others are closer now. Im sorry, and good luck to you also."
Both had been part of the ill-fated Oasis Alliance. Only one would stay in the house. Andy rallied his friends in the house but felt awful that it was Ayane who would go if he was successful.
It came time for the voting to begin. Josh appeared on the television screen in the living room.
Welcome to the fifth eviction from the Big Brother house. Ayane and Andy you are the nominated guests. Houseguests you know the drill. One at a time please enter the Confessional Room and give you vote."
Once the voting was finshed Josh appeared again. "The votes have been tallied. Ayane, you have been evicted from the Big Brother San Francisco house. Please say your good-byes and leave the house."
Was Ayane evicted because of her absense or were the others still going after the alliance?
