They are able to transfer energy into other molecules, break down nutrients, rebuild cells and many other things. Enzymes are first produced with the sight and smell of food. They are then produced by the tongue with the taste of food. These enzymes are used to break down startch and glucose. Enzymes are also produced in the stomach and pancreas.
