Mouth |
More details- |
The mouth is the first part of the body where digestion is taken place. The mouth consists of teeth, salivary glands and the tongue. The teeth chew the food and mix it with saliva from the salivary glands so that it will easily pass through the pharynx and oesophagus. Once the salivary glands and teeth have completed their functions, the food is then formed into what is called the bolus. The tongue then forces the bolus down the pharynx and through the esophagus towards the stomach. |
