COMPUTER TIPS 10 (October 29, 2003)
Like most of us, mahilig tayo magdownload ng mga files from the Internet. And kalimitan sa mga downloads offers "mirrors" or mga options kung saan pwede ka magdownload.
For example, you want to download mIRC, lalabas sa site nila ang madaming geographical areas (Asia, USA, Europe) and siempre pipiliin natin doon yung malapit lang sa atin for example, Singapore, or kung anong pinakamalapit sa Philippines...
Well, mali po tayo dyan. It's now time for us to know the techniques of a faster download! Hehehe
Here's the trick, for example I want to download a file and meron mga options. Aalamin ko muna yung time zones... Meaning kung 5:00am dito sa Philippines maghahanap ako ng place (option) na kung saan it's the "the least busy".
In this way, wala kang masyadong kaagaw sa linya, mabilis pa ang connection mo. Kasi di ba tayo na rin nakakapansin nun, "kapag maraming gumagamit ng line, mabagal ang connection." Ahhh ganun ba yun?
I hope na naintindihan nyo ang tip. Mahirap talaga magexplain... Hehehe

Instead of typing the full address of a site, for example, http://www.nike.com, just type nike ang press CTRL + Enter. Automatic nang madadagdag ang http://www..com sa word. Cool huh?

Mirror
A web site that is a replica of an already existing site, used to reduce network traffic (hits on a server) or improve the availability of the original site.
Mirror sites are useful when the original site generates too much traffic for a single server to support.
Mirror sites also increase the speed with which files or Web sites can be accessed: users can download files more quickly from a server that is geographically closer to them.
For example, if a busy New York-based Web site sets up a mirror site in England, users in Europe can access the mirror site faster than the original site in New York. (Webopedia.com)

COMPUTER TIPS 11 (November 5, 2003)
Good morning sa lahat! How's sembreak? Malapit na naman ang pasukan pero excited na tayo siguro kasi malapit na ang graduation! Konting tiis na lang! Anyways, today I will present to you a very familiar error when surfing.
Eto yung dialog box na, for some websites, lagi nalabas. Error message kumbaga.. Here:
An error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 35
char. 3725
Error: Expected identifier
Code: 0
URL: mhtml:ml//-----------
Do You Want to continue running scripts on this page?
Yes No
First of all, ano ba tong error na 'to? Is there something wrong sa browser natin? Wala naman. This is error is a "scripting mistake" found within the webpage na pinuntahan natin and ang browser natin is expecting to find something pero wala... as in wala syang nakitang script kaya nag-error.
One solution is to Refresh
Another one is to inform the website administrator about the error para next time na magpunta kayo sa site, sana eh wala na yung error.
Last solution siguro na I can suggest is this: (para sa lahat ng site na may error na tulad nito...)
1. Sa Internet Explorer, go to Tools
2. then to Internet Options
3. then to Advanced tab
4. sa Browsing, hanapin nyo yung Disable script debugging then check it.
5. Click Ok
From this time on, hindi na kayo makaka-receive ng mga error messages like that. Bow!

Kung marami tayong programs installed sa ating pc and of course, almost all of them ay naga-appear sa Start > Programs folder and we do not want to see yung mga hindi naman natin nagagamit masyado.
Meaning, kung ang gusto lang natin makita sa Programs folder ay yung madalas lang natin gamitin (kasi its annoying to see lahat ng programs installed whenever you scroll sa Start Menu), here's how: (probably most of you alam na 'to)
1. Right-click the task bar, click Properties
2. Under the General tab, check Use Personalized Menus
3. Hit Ok

Dithering (hindi Diethering Ocampo ha, nice Russel!)
It is placing different colored pixels next to each other in such a way that it gives the illusion of a color that really isn't there.
It happens when we are printing, di ba sa colored printer 3 lang ang colors, if I'm not mistaken green, blue and yellow lang. Notice nyo sa print material yung mga bits of colors... Iba't iba ang napoproduce na color depende sa pagkakadikit-dikit ng 3 (GBY). Now we know!
