Week 10 Preview
This is the last weekend of play outside the division. Three teams bye weeks
are finished for the season. 30-22-2 after a 3-3 week. Sneaking back
towards .500 at .555
Mosakowski-Hale (-19) vs Czupryna
The old man has been rising off the mat with two straight wins after picking
up the Mo-ha's QB discard, Seattle. However, the Mo-ha have Peterson, Seattle
kicker, so that have their old QB covered. Even though he threw
for three and change in the last two games, Kurt Warner and the Rams still lost.
Expect a bounce back game from the Rams, and maybe five for Warner against the
weak Panther D. However, only a couple for CZ's Ram collection. Mo-ha, handily.
Jones-Klingman vs Outlaw (-5.5)
When Bud saw the projected playoff
pairings, he got a little nervous... dangerous Outlaw as an eight
seed? Bud has been bitten by a snake in the grass in the past when Talbot
beat him in week 16 to ruin Bud's perfect season. Outlaw doesn't have
the W's to earn one of Central's two spots. Although has has the most points of
the six remaining teams, he is 4-5 and has worse record than Peil, the other points
qualifier.
It used to be as Favre goes, so goes JK. However, Favre's going bad. This
week he is on the road in Dallas. Dallas is missing their offensive
stars, but there's their "D". JK owns their D, and although they've been
fond of SR'ing a D every week. This week they ought to keep their own against
erratic Favre.
Last week Outlaw lost on Monday night. This week, he turns the tables
as his New England QB's feast on the Jets.
Peil vs Jackson (-5.5)
Last week, Doug Flutie was the AFC player of the week. However, he was the only
guy who scored for Jackson. This week Flutie faces the tough Miami D.
They had a the shutout of Tennessee in week 9.
CJ's backup, Atlanta is on a bye. Is Jackson working the SR wire? I know where
he might be looking. But from what I can see, his team is in a slump.
Peil has surged back into contention with Jeff George helming the Vikes.
Tough games for Barry and JK this week, Peil might find himself in second place.
This is my upset special, Peil.
Barry vs Wallace (-15.5)
The AFC Central... If your QB matches up with Cincinnati, Cleveland or
Baltimire, you are in for a treat. Barry (Jacksonville) and Wallace (Tennessee)
being in the same division get to play them often. As it happens, they both play
such a game. However, I expect Tennessee, against Cincinnati to want it more.
They were shut out last week and should bounce back. Wallace needs a bounce
back after two straight losses and he should get it.
Talbot vs Stroupe (-13.5)
Bud's league has a playoff game that matches the leagues two worse teams. It is
called the "toilet bowl". This game, with two 1-8 teams is our toilet bowl.
I had to go way back in the archives to find a game with that matched two
worse teams, and believe it or not, I found one. In 1991, 1-7 Ruffin defeated
0-8 Howrigon. These "one season wonders" were the worst BRFL teams of all
time. However, unlike that gruesome twosome, Talbot and Stroupe have a
proud history in the BRFL. Stroupe a former champion and Talbot has been a
force in the post season, but their slide this year pushed their lifetime
records below .500.
Fittingly, their QBs play each other. However, there is a wide skill
difference between Indy QBs and the Giants QBs. There is also a wide skill
difference between Stroupe and Talbot. Stroupe will win, but in his position,
forget the wins, just score points...he won't score many this week.
Deitrich (-13.5) vs Best
First place Bud faces a team, Best, who has knocked two straight teams out of
first in Barry and Wallace. Best will face first place Jackson next week, so it
is possible he could do this four weeks in a row.
Deitrich lost Emmitt Smith to injury last week. The Redskins also lost.
The Skins should bounce back against the Eagles.
Deitrich will win, but it will be a low scoring squeaker.
