Lieutenant Julian Bashir, M.D. chief medical officer, Deep Space 9 Human Dr. Bashir is a genetically-engineered human who posesses superior physical and mental capabilities. He graduated at the top of his class at Starfleet Academy and requested the position of CMO on Deep Space 9 over any other assignment. Bashir quickly took a liking to science officer Jadzia Dax, but a romance never developed since she married Worf. Things worked out better, though, with Ezri Dax.
