Colonel Kira Nerys first officer, Deep Space 9 Bajoran Before joining the Bajoran Military, Kira was a resistance fighter during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. Her assignment to the former Cardassin space station was against her wishes and Kira had a hard time working for the Bajoran Provisional Government and especially with Starfleet. Over time, Kira grew to accept her duties and responsibility to Bajor and to the rest of the crew.
