Odo chief of security, Deep Space 9 Shape-shifter Odo was the first shape-shifter discovered by the Bajoran people, long before Starfleet's encounter with the Dominion and their founders. Odo had no idea who he was or where he came from. He joined the Bajoran military and was stationed to DS9 as a security officer. His shape-shifting skills were helpful in tracking down lawbreakers, since he could avoid detection and was difficult to harm. He also did not require food since he had no real stomach, and did not sleep on a bed since he was not of solid shape. However, he did need to return to a gelatanous form every several hours since keeping a solid shape was not an easy task. Odo felt torn between the Dominion and Starfleet when he realised that his species controlled the Dominion forces that were attacking the Alpha Quadrant.
