Welcome to my pet page!!![]() I decided to write this page so that I could teach inquiring minds what I know about my pets. I do not profess to be an encyclopedia, but I do have first hand experience. Each link will go to that page of information. If you have any comments or questions, please let me know. ![]() I have quite a few pets in my house. My husband and I both like pets a lot. Okay, maybe too much! We have first and most importantly, our Chihuahua Jordy. We are planning to breed him with my sister's Chihuahua and have some babies. My husband and I want to buy another Chihuahua to be Jordy's pal. Right now we don't have the space, but, we will be moving soon and THEN we can get another dog. Guinea PigsWe also have three Guinea Pigs, one male, Prince, and two females, Brill-o and Tori. I would love to include a picture of them but I don't have a color scanner. Sorry!!!FishMoving right along through our Petatorium we have fish. I have a twenty gallon tank in my living room with a male Betta , two Gourami's , a Siamese Rock Hopper , and a Plecostomus . They live in a natural looking tank with lots of blue and green around them.In my bedroom I have a fifty gallon tank, we call it The Big Tank it was a Christmas gift for my husband and I for ourselves. You never can depend on others for gifts that you REALLY want!! It is my live bearing, breeding, community tank. In it I have guppies, a bunch of different Plecostomus', three upside down catfish, a crayfish, some other catfish, and last, but not least, four Otincinclus'. This is a really exciting tank and I love to lay on my bed and look at all of the fish. My last tank is a baby tank. I remove the babies from the big tank so that they don't get eaten. Then I put them in The Baby Tank, so that they can grow up. So I have baby guppies, a bunch of different Otincinclus'. and a a Siamese Rock Hopper . This tank is always changing depending on who has babies at the time. I have read a lot of books that tell what is the proper way to breed fish. They talk about genetics and all of that stuff, but, that's not what I am interested in right now. (I check on genetics with the Guinea Pigs anyways.) Many of these books tell you to separate the mother from her tank mates. I have tried this and I have to say that there are fewer baby fatalities this way but, I think that it is mean. The mom's get totally stressed out before the babies are born and that can't be good. So, here comes a little of Darwin's theories. I catch the babies after they are born. I put some floating plants into the tank and get the plants and the babies in a bowl and then separate the babies from the plants and transplant them to the baby tank. I know that more babies get eaten this way but oh well, I guess. ![]() BirdsWe also have our own plethora of birds. First there is Trenna, our cockatiel. She is hand fed and really sweet. When we move we are going to get her a boyfriend, I'm sure that she will be happy! We also have a pair of canaries, three society finches, and a pair of zebra finches. I have a real love for birds. They were my first pets. When I was younger, in junior high and the beginning of high school, I raised quite a few birds. I had all different types of birds from Ring Neck Parakeets to Bourkes. But, I have fewer now since we live in a smaller place. Again. when we move I will get more.Misc.I try to feed all of my pets a wide variety of food. I suggest that any good pet keeper do the same. I give the Guinea Pigs a wide variety of fruits and veggies, as well as letting them graze on my lawn. I give Jordy plenty of treats and other things. I also give my fish a wide variety of food including flake food, pellets, worms, etc.. Well, that's it for my pet page now, check back and see what's new from time to time.Hobbies / Main Page / Links / Marvin the Martian / Me / Mindtrap Challenge / Pets Guinea Pigs / Plecostemus / Bettas / Gouramis / Rockhoppers / Guppies / Plattys / Upside Down Catfish Crayfish / Catfish / Otocinclus / Cockatiels / Canaries / Zebra Finches / Society Finches This page hosted by ![]() |
