Melissa Betkowski, Westfield, New Jersey I am a 22-year-old woman with SB, T12-L1. I have hydrocephalus, and bowel and bladder involvement with my SB (lucky me!). The doctor that I used to see at A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware used to also tell me that I had sacral agenesis, but who knows?!? I've been treated there as well as at the Spina Bifida clinic at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. I used to walk with crutches or a walker and braces, but as I got older, it got to be too much, so now I use a wheelchair full-time. I have some experience cathing, but need to get more regular about it again. I'm a (2000) graduate of The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) with a B.A. in Journalism.
