A "True" Atheist
Lay off of the crusades for
goodness sake! (Part 2)
Last month we explored how there
is no "true" morality, therefore using the crusades,
inquisition, witch burnings, etc. as arguments against fundyism
is a logical fallacy. This month we will take it a few steps
further.
Okay, let's pretend that there
IS some sort of "cosmic justice" out there. Maybe from
some higher evolved and intellectually superior aliens who are
our distant parents via the process known as "Directed Panspermea."
Would the past actions of the
church (and don't kid yourself, they are ALL one secret organization)
then be unjust? No, not really.
There are many factors that go
into one's actions (really "REactions," just keep reading).
In fact, I had to clarity this up for a young atheist lad who
had a fundy name, but apparently he was unwilling to go the extra
mile in our battle with the godbots and change it.
And no matter what you hear,
his refusal to change it did NOT upset me!
Anyway, these factors direct
our actions. Every action is a reaction which itself causes another
reaction, and so on. It is a chain reaction started many trillions
and trillions of years ago and shoots through time like falling
dominoes.
Let's explore these factors in
detail, shall we?
1) genetics
We are born with certain characteristics
encoded in our genes which affect our thinking, mood, actions,
etc. We do not choose these genes, they are passed on to us by
our genetic source code donors. Some of us have designer genes,
some don't.
2) upbringing
By some cosmic accident we are
given to someone to raise us and teach us what THEY want us to
know. And, of coarse, we do not choose our parents. Maybe the
Christians were all raised by wolves? Who knows?
3) location
Where we are born and raised
also affects our thinking. If you were born on a planet of Klingons,
fighting and battle are all you would know. If you were born
on a planet of Tellitubbies, you would just know love, peace,
joy, happiness, etc. Of coarse, I might would rather be with
the Klingons; I don't know about you.
4) brain processes
Maybe those Christians were given
chemicals which altered their states of consciousness turning
them into raving mad war maniacs. It is possible that they just
did not know what they were doing. Maybe the same goes for you?
How would you know?
So with all of these factors
molding our brains which in turn direct our actions (remember,
we have no mind or will - see the issue 0000001) it is any wonder
why people try to have some sort of absolute moral codes.
People are no better or worse
than a bee who happens to sting you (other than that humans tend
to do more damage).
It is very simple.

Lay off of the crusades
for goodness sake!
