My name is pronounced "meekowe"

And don't you forget it!

I have lived several years (because I am fit) and learned a thing or two about life (surviving it). So this makes me very qualified at helping others with their daily survival.

Ergo, that is why I am the "help" writer for this publication.

It takes many random typings to create something coherent, but there's always one that seems to make enough sense to publish.

This Month's Letter:

Dear Miko,

I'm the parent of a youngster and need to know if I need to be concerned about something. The level of violence is becoming greater and greater in our media.

Should I restrict my child from television, video games, movies, etc.

Thanks,
Wondering Parent

My dear overcharged and overemotional Wondering Parent,

Why is it that you humans always complicate things and cloud issues with silly emotions and bizarre use of your language?!

You would think that some of you don't consider yourselves as animals.

First we have to first evaluate a term that you used - "violence".

This term is unfortunately used by many animals in the human classification. In fact, no other animals use it.

"Violence" seems to indicate that something wrong, or "unnatural" is going on. But since only nature exists, nothing "unnatural" can exist.

So since the word "violence" is very misleading and evokes bogus emotions in human animals, we will agree to use the term "natural tendencies" in place of "violence".

Now, with that cleared up, we can begin to look at your dilemma in the correct light.

To answer your question, you should NOT restrict your offspring from observing "natural tendencies" in any format. In fact, youngsters should be ENCOURAGED to observe them!

"Why?", you ask. Simple. So that they can learn vital survival techniques.

This goes on all the time outdoors, you know, the place that is outside of your comfy houses with air conditioners and refrigerators.

It is natural for cubs of all classifications to watch and learn "natural tendencies" from older species. This helps insure their survival.

To restrict this would be hindering the chances for survival for the little ones.

Also, you should encourage them to practice said techniques to develop their skills. Other animal offspring do this all the time.

You may want to set up a backyard wrestling arena where they can practice in the safety and comfort of their own territory. And providing metal folding chairs shows them that you care as a parent.

As they get older and better at their "natural tendencies," they will naturally go out on their own and practice their learned survival techniques.

This will help insure the passing of dominate genes which any good member of the animal kingdom would want to do - as should you.

Remember, "natural tendencies" are only natural.
