Mounting couplers with optimum spacing between cars is sometimes very difficult, due to lack of compatibility and standard practices. To avoid trial and error, at the cost of labor and materials, various situations were analyzed with a computer aided design (CAD) program. This eliminated unnecessary and almost unrecoverable surgery by exposing potential problems. Since the methods can be applied to many other situations, some suggestions on setting up the drawings are presented in USING CAD DRAWINGS Examples will be added As developed.
