News and Activities at the Studio
Fall is going to fall any day now, won't dat be nice! The studio is reopened fur classes after a lazy summer vacation. Let's all brush our furs and come back to brush up on our dancing, as we decide what new things we'd like to learn and try out fur dis season.
We will haff two furry lively classes starting, a return to Scottish Folk Dancing annnnnnddd.... as requested fur quite some time ... the Polka! Yes, your teachers learned the polka to share wiff mew. The class may be small and we will use the studio wiff the strongest floor. We found out the polka is heaps of fun, and mew will too! If mew haff delicate ears, we suggest that mew bring your earplugs fur this class. Polka dots are not required. It will be on Monday afternoons this season only.
Be sure to check the schedule fur all the classes mew want to take. Fur mew girls, we are now offering Advanced Ballet, and we hope to do exciting things in there. Also, in Modern Dance we offer a special Isadora Duncan Dance Interpurr .. Inturpatap ... Intertatia.. Floaty-like class this season. Bring something soft to wave around, like feathers or scarves. We'll see how it goes. (Fur those who haf heard about Isadora Duncan, kitties wear CLOTHES in dis class!)
Let's all get back in the groove and dance!

Kitties Attending Dances
Most of us haf been going to parties, dances and balls fur a long time now, and we always haf so much fun! All our memfurs are good dancers, so sometimes we need to be patient wif a guest and make dancing a fun experience fur them, too.
It helps to rememfur our party etiquette. This is something else that all .... uh, most ....... uh, some kitties are furry good about. We kitties are furry purrlite and ....... maybe it would be good to haf a liddle reminder of how furry purrlite we ... uh, .. are. So here goes.
Furst, fur mew boys. If mew bring a date to a dance, I know mew will want to dance wif her, and mew would not consider leafing her in the corner while mew spend the efening discussing motorcycle races wif the other boys, right? If mew did not bring a date, it's purrfectly okay to stand around drinking nipz and talkin motorcycles. Den I know where mew are, so I can send some girls ofur dere to ask mew to dance. Dat works fine.
Second, about asking. Dere are many purrlite ways to ask anoffur kitty to dance, and mew know dat just fine. It's purrfectly okay fur a girl to ask a boy, as well as a boy asking a girl. It is also okay to say "no, thank mew" if mew haf a reason to, although mew might miss out on lotsa fun if mew does dat too much. After all, we are dere to dance.
About cutting in, dis is something we don't discourage, if it's done purrlitely. Wif one exception. Some kitties are here wif winks and wedwinks. It is not nice to cut in on another kitty's wink, or to flirt wif another kitty's wink. And it can get mew in trouble!
And about unfortunate feets. Yup, it happens, tho we nefur means fur it to. Once in a while mew might accidently step on yer dance partner's toes or tail or long gown, and get surprised by a furry loud "Ouch!". Just apologize nicely, yer partner knows it was an accident. But she does expect an apology.
Of course, all of mew know the general rules of good kitty etiquette at any dance or party. No dipping paws in the punchbowl and no dropping anything in it, especially not liddle live things dat wiggle. No gobbling up all the best horse dervies on the platters, cuz offur kitties would like some, too. No cee-gars inside, go outside if mew haf one. And it's fine to take off yer jacket or cape or stole if mew gets too warm, but let's not get carried away.
In case mew accidently lose anything impurrtant at a dance, at least at one of ours, it is not the best idea to crawl around on the floor looking fur it while kitties are dancing, and especially while dey are drinking punch. If mew lost yer bow tie or earring or cufflink or corsage or the tail end of yer sash, mew will find dem in a basket by the door when the dance is over. Like the next day. If the item happens to be furry wet, it will be in a bucket.
Now see? Good party etiquette is really furry easy and nice. And it helps all of us to haf a sooper good time.

Movie Review: Brigadoon
by Phelicity
Brigadoon is like a fairytale. It all happens in an enchanted Scottish village where everybody wakes up from a sleep only fur one day efury hundred years! Can mew imagine that? The village of Brigadoon was hidden in the mists all the rest of the time, and it could only be found on that one day efury hundred years.
Well, two Americans were out hunting in Scotland on that furry day, and they found the village! All the people in it were furry nice and furry mewsical, too. The men did fantastic Scottish Highland dances, some in kilts, and the women danced in old-fashioned dresses and they all sang luffly or lively songs and had lotsa fun. But underneath, they worried, fur the village was under a spell and if anybody who lived there left it on that one day they was all awake, it would cease to exist!
The dancing is wonderpurr in this movie. Gene Kelly and Van Johnson are the two hunters who went into the village, and wow, watchin them all dance is mesmerizing. Gene Kelly plays Tommy and, wouldn't mew know, he met a beautifur girl named Fiona in the village and they fell in luff. Fiona was played by Cyd Charrise, one of the furry best dancers of her day.
It's such a luffly movie to watch and it has that furry old magical ambience that I luff. Besides, it features the kinds of dancing we are doing in classes this season, both the energetic Scottish dances and the modern dance, as danced by Tommy and Fiona in a field of heather. It is sooooooo romancey, it'll make the girls swoon and the boys look worried.
Will Tommy and Fiona get separated? Will the village fall sleep again and be gone? Or worse, will one of the villagers try to leave and break the spell? Does magic really happen? Yes, it does, as us dancers know. See this great movie to find out!
