That image file is HUGE! Why? |
Remember, we're talking about complete CDs here. Current CD-R technology
allows for up to 680 megabytes on a disk and the disk image is going to
be a few megs more than the actual CD. Please see section [6.5]
for the recommended size of the compressed *.ISO files.

OK, what do I do with an image file? |
If you have a CD burner you should know what to do with the image file.
If not, then you might be better off and will probably learn more by
reading some of the help newsgroups or lurking some more.

Can I use Fake CD? |
I have no clue as I have never tried. Why would you want to download one
of these behemoths if you're not going to burn it to CD? If you want to
use Fake CD, get the rip from one of the other groups.

I have an IDE/ATAPI burner and CDRWin
doesn't support it. Can I still burn .BIN images or am I screwed? |
Maybe, maybe not. If the image is mixed mode (data and audio combined on
different tracks) then yeah, you're screwed. If it is only data and
simply burned using CDRWin then you may be alright.
Update to the above: Fireburner is another program that can burn both
ISO (including some ISO's that CDRWin chokes on,) and BIN. Highly
recommended.

(Keeping to the theme of ABCDI, please don't complain if a mixed-mode
image gets posted that you can't use. Nobody owes you anything, but they
usually will TRY to help someone that stays sane and rational. If there
is a way around the problem, they'll tell you. If not, you'll just have
to go to the store for this one or pass on it completely. Life's a bitch
sometimes...)

Are there pictures to hold my hand
through a burn? |
Yes, we have some very basic scans for burning
an ISO with Easy CD Pro 95.
Here are some very basic scans for burning
with CDRWIN
Scans for other tasks are planned, so stay tuned. |
