ABCDI |
The alt.binaries.cd.image newsgroup. A place to find complete CD
images, suitable for burning, in order to examine software before
purchase.
|
ABG |
The alt.binaries.games newsgroup. A place to find (mostly) IBM-PC
compatible games, usually RIP'd.
|
ABCDIP |
The alt.binaries.cd.image.parts newsgroup. This is a place to ask for
missing parts of posts made in ABCDI but, ONLY
AFTER the FULL REPOST has been finished by the poster.
More will be added here in the future as we are still discussing this
group.
|
ABWI |
The alt.binaries.warez.ibm-pc newsgroup. The granddaddy of Warez
newsgroups, you can find most anything here for IBM-PCs (except games,
which found a home in ABG, et.al.) The downsides (and
one of the reasons for the creation of ABCDI, is
that EVERYTHING gets dumped there and usually in RIP'd
form. You also find thousands of eager newbies asking for posts over and
over again, people posting in 1000 line pieces, people posting 60 parts
of a 62 part post asking for people to "fill in the rest",
etc. In short, its a zoo.

coaster |
CD that burned incorrectly and is now useful only as a drink coaster, or
for hanging from the rear-view mirror in your pickup truck, to advertise
your CD-player to the local thieves..
|
cooked |
This refers to the number of data bytes in an image sector copied from
the cd. 2048 bytes per sector in a cooked image file (includes only the
user data from each sector).
|
FOAD |
Fuck Off And Die. It means what it says <g>.
Most who frequent here are not newbies, have been on Usenet for YEARS
and have grown tired of incurable stupidity or rudeness.
|
HAND |
Have A Nice Day. Frequently used sarcastically.
|
IMHO |
In My Humble Opinion.
|
parts |
The alt.binaries.cd.image.parts newsgroup. A non-obvious repository of
miscellaneous Warez. Used by regulars of ABCDI as a
place to post and request missing pieces of CD images. But, ONLY after
the FULL REPOST has been completed.

PLONK |
That was the sound of your nym landing in someone's KillFile. For the
most part, this means that you have been relegated to invisibility for
that person, and they may never see your nym again.

|
raw |
This refers to the number of data bytes in an image sector copied from
the cd. 2352 bytes per sector in a raw image file (of which 2048 are
user data and 304 are positioning, error/detection/correction, and speed
information).
|
RIP |
A cracked or hacked version of a application/game with most of the
video, sounds, and junk (Internet Explorer <g>) taken out. The EXE
has more than likely been altered to allow it to run from the hard drive
instead of the CD as intended and other protections removed.
|
ROTFLMAO |
Rolling On The Floor, Laughing My Ass Off.
|
Sector |
The base logical unit of data storage on a CD-ROM disc

anything but instead bitch and complain about anything to anyone who

Welcome To My Kill File (Filter). For the most part, this means that
you have been relegated to invisibility. You have been added to that
persons killfile, and they may never see your nym again.
