THOMAS SCHOLEFIELD 1678-1743
AND HIS DESCENDANTS

West Riding of Yorkshire
Thomas is my earliest known
direct ancestor on the maternal side of my family.
Evidence of his existence can be found within the " Northowram and Coley
Registers 1644-1752 "
a collection of non-conformist records of baptisms, marriages and burials.
Northowram is in the parish of Halifax in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It
is about 2.5 miles NE of Halifax and
6.5 miles away from Bradford.

It would seem that at least four of Thomas and Mary's children - Matthias,
Martha, Abraham and Thomas - migrated the
short distance to Mirfield during the 1730/40's.
Thomas died in 1743 at Northowram, the entry in the register is as follows:
" Thomas Scholefield of Northowram
died of a few hours sickness May 27 aged abt. 70 "
Mary's date of death is unknown.
