“I love you too my prince. You are all I
ever wanted. I’m so glad we are finally together.”
“I am too.”
“Night.” Their bodies needed a rest, so
they fell in deep sleep until the next day when Kouin finally opened
his eyes and found himself wrapped, not only with Yutaka’s body, but
also with some white sheets. He looked up and saw an umbrella above
them covering their bodies from the rays of the sun. “What’s this?
Yuyu?” He shook him softly. “Baby…wake up. Love?”
“Huh? Who disturbs my slumber?” He sweetly
smiled and touched his lover’s face. “Something wrong?”
“Did you bring that?” Pointing the
umbrella.
“Nope…neither the blanket.”
“I wonder who…Hokano.”
“He is in love with you.”
“No, he’s not!”
“You’ve always been such a fool, Kou! Never
notice when someone loves you. I know he does.”
“Hum. Well…if you’ve told me that you loved
me before you did…maybe I would consider you a lot sooner. My
feelings were there, but I…I couldn’t understand them. The need to
see you, to spend time with you, and to listen to you- you know…all
the things we shared that we only did when we were alone, that
scared me.”
“Yeah…I slept in your house and we watch
movies all night and eat your super ice cream while I snuggle with
you and you held me all night. Have you done it here? The ice cream,
I mean. I would love to eat your ice cream again.”
“We can do that…how about we finish your
portrait? You are looking so, so, so pretty!”
“Ok! I need my clothes. Where are they?”
“Right here! Look…we have breakfast and
all. Maybe you are right…so much attention he always gives me.”
“You see? But it’s a good thing he brought
us food!” After they ate and dressed, they went to the gardens and
looked for the painting discovering it was destroyed. “AH!”
“But…NO!” Kouin was so sad his tears fell
instantly. “It was my gift to you…who could do such a thing? It’s
not fair…my Yuyu…”
“Kou…” He noticed it was very important for
him, and that it was depressing him, so he hugged him. “Don’t worry
about it, you are my gift.”
“But I worked so hard…who was so cruel? Do
you think Hokano…”
“No. He wouldn’t destroy something you
love. But…we can still do something with this stuff!” He opened one
bottle of painting and squeezed some on his hand and then painted
Kouin with it. “War!”
“Oh yeah?” They started a paint fight
messing the entire place with all the colors they opened. “Look what
you did!”
“Me? Alone? That deserves…revenge!” Yukata
jumped so he could grab his neck and both fell on the ground. They
wrestle for a few minutes and since it was obvious Kouin won the
fight. “I surrender!”
“Nah! You lost! And since you lost…I will
have what I want.” He bit his ear. “You need a bath…and so do I.
What do you say? We clean up this place and…”
“Sure...you rub mine, and I rub yours.”
“Sounds like a good plan to me!” It was
already afternoon when they finished their playing and when Kouin
finally decided to return to his normal life. “Love…I have to go. I
need to have a few talks. I promise to come back tonight.”
“You will?!” He was happy to hear that and
squeezed him. “I’ll wait for you tonight.”
“I want to talk with my son, and with
Master Chidou. I will tell them about you. I just hope my son
understands.”
“You will tell them? But…”
“I can’t lie. I’ll be sincere.” He kissed
his lips goodbye and dressed up. “Think about me.” He sat beside him
and gave him a last hug and kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you.” He left his room seconds
after. “I’m scared…take care my love.”
Kouin had a long chat with his son, and at
least he understood, later he went to see his master. “I need to
speak with you.”
“I’m listening.”
“You will be disappointed with what I’m
about to say, but I must. I won’t go to Eden.”
“And that is why?”
“I violated a rule. I-I made love with the
one I love last night…and this morning.” He was silent for a few
minutes trying to get the strength, but Chidou didn’t say a word
either. “I- I’m in love with another man.”
“And?”
“And I won’t lose him. I will defend my
love for him, no matter what. I’ll do anything to be with him!”
“And you are not going to Eden because?”
“I already told you.”
He looked to his blue eyes very serene.
“Kouin…you haven’t violated any rule. You can make love with the one
you love, is not against the laws of Eden. You are free to love.”
“But…”
“But nothing. You passed your last test.
You are welcome to Eden.”
“I am?”
“Yes.”
“But I don’t want to leave without Yutaka!
I won’t leave him, I won’t!” His eyes glittered with tears, he
promised his beloved he will stay beside him- he couldn’t betray him
once again.
“I understand your feelings, but you must
follow your path. Yutaka needs to grow a lot more; he can’t come
along with you. You will be with him in Eden. He must reach the
right level to go with us, until then…you must part your ways.”
“NO! I don’t want to.” He shook his head
feeling impotent and completely frustrated.
“Kouin, listen to me. It’s not easy to let
go, but you can’t deprive yourself from growing just because of him.
You must let him do his part alone, otherwise neither of you will do
it.”
“I though it was forbidden to love another
man!”
“Those are the laws of Tengoku, not the
laws of Heaven. The only law of love is to love your soul mate and
no one else. So you are free to love Yutaka-he is your soul mate.”
“Really? I felt in my heart, but wondered…”
“Listen to your heart, what does he tells
you? To stay or leave?”
“I want to go, but I also want to
stay…because I need him.”
“His time will come. We are leaving
tomorrow, by then your transformation will be completed.”
“Very well.” He left sad to know he
wouldn't be able to stay with his beloved, but happy to know they
did belong together. He was on his way to see Yutaka and tell him
the news when his mate finally found him.
“So there you are! You are the worst mate
in the entire planet! I’ve been looking for you and you haven’t
answered a single message. You're leaving and have spent zero time
with me!”
“I don’t have time for this. I’m leaving
tomorrow. I have lots of thing to do.”
“You are not going anywhere if I don't want
you to. I know…I know where you were last night. I saw you. You are
dirty, you-the High Angel, are going against our laws! You were
screwing with a stupid boy!!”
“Will you calm down?”
“No I won’t! I will tell everyone if you
don’t listen to me!”
“Go ahead and tell everyone.”
“I’ll tell Kyuseishu. What he would think
about a father like you? You make us think you are spotless and you
are all cover with mud!”
“Kai…get a life. You should do more for
yourself and this planet. Kyuseishu knows all about Yutaka, so I
don’t care what you have to say. And you are in no position to claim
anything. You were the first to betray me, you were the first
screwing around, so shut up.”
“What are you talking about? Oh sure! That
other lover of yours told you about his stupid lie to get you away
from me so he can screw you.”
“No. I was with him. I saw you with my own
eyes Kai, so stop it! You asked me why I stopped making love to you,
there’s your answer. You betrayed me. I tried to make you happy, and
you just had to go and do your thing. You know what, you are worse
than me, at least I made love with the one I love, you only had sex
for pleasure. AND Hokano is NOT my lover! We are through, I am
Yutaka’s now…I’ve always been his.” And he left.
“Kouin…KOUIN!” He left hearing her
screaming his name in the middle of the hallway. “Yutaka…I hate you!
But you won’t keep him, no you won’t!”
Kouin went to the gardens, the intention of
picking flowers for his beloved. He'd make him a crown because it
was a tradition to give a flower crown to the one you loved. While
he was making it Hokano sat beside him. “Hey.”
“Kouin…I want to tell you something.”
“It’s ok Hokano…I know. I want to tell you
something too. Thank you, for all you’ve done for me. I appreciate
it, I really do. You are my brother.”
“You were a friend…and I always look up for
you. You were a fine example…I wish I could do well in your place.
I…I will be the new High Angel, but I don’t consider myself good
enough.”
“You are, Hokano, you’ll do a great job. I
recommended you because I believe in you. You now exactly how things
work around here…but please take care of Kyuseishu, he’ll be looking
up to you now, you are his Godfather, and he loves you very much.”
“I know…I can’t fail you or him. Kouin, I
am planning a little farewell party for you tonight. I hope you’ll
be there.”
“I will.”
“He can come too, Yutaka.”
“Thank you. I’ll tell him.” He smiled and
Hokano helped him finish the crown and helped collect colored stones
for necklaces. After he finished making the matching necklaces he
left to Yutaka’s room. “Yuyu…you’re here?”
He opened the door quickly. “Hi!” He was
happy to see him earlier than planned and quickly pulled him inside
the room. “I wanted to see you!”
“I made something for you, it’s a crown.”
“A crown?”
“You are my prince.” He placed the flower
crown on his head. “You look beautiful. I want you to wear it
tonight…so everyone will know you are my love. Here, wear this too.”
He put his necklace on his neck. “You are my soul mate, so you
should wear this in symbol of my love for you. I have one too.”
“KOUIN!” Yukata hugged him tightly. It was
a custom to give necklaces and flower crowns to the one you chose as
your mate instead of a ring. “I am so happy! So happy!”
“I need to tell you something. One is that
there’s a party tonight and you are invited, and the reason for the
party is…to say goodbye to me.” Yutaka’s face turned pale. “I will
be leaving tomorrow.”
“NO! You promised! You promised!” He
started to shiver and cry.
“I know…but you have my heart. I’ll be
looking down to you. You and I will be together in Eden, but you
must promise me you’ll work for it.”
“That phrase again! What does it mean?”
“Until you reach the highest level for this
planet, you won’t be able to go to Heaven. In Eden we will be
together…we are soul mates, love, we can love each other in Eden.”
“We can?”
“Yes. I want you to work hard and stop
thinking about other things. Prepare yourself and we’ll be free to
love. You can play your music in your free time, promise you’ll work
hard for us.”
“I will, I promise. So…where’s the party?”
“In the Gates, when midnight comes I will
be leaving.”
“So soon!” His tears and hugs were filled
with sorrow. “I’ll miss you.”
“I will too. Now, let’s go someplace.
There’s something I must return to you.”
“Return?”
“You’ll see.” They left to Kouin’s room and
entered his secret place. Kouin was covering Yukata's eyes while
they walked inside the room. “Don’t peek.” He led him until he was
standing right in front of his old guitar. “Now open your eyes.”
“OH! My-my guitar! You have my guitar! All
this time…Kouin!” He couldn’t help but to cry and quickly hugged
him. “You love me…you kept all my things.”
“You’ll keep it now.” He gave him the
lyrics and the guitar. “The strings are little bad, but the rest is
fine.”
“You gave this to me…do you remember? You
bought this guitar for me.”
“Yes I do. You were so happy; I couldn’t
forget your beautiful smile.”
He took a small box and his eyes reflected
shock. “This is? My note! You have my note and…” He took the
envelope from inside. It looked very old and worn. Taking the letter
inside, he began reading. “This letter…I wrote it to you when you
first left Earth. Why did you keep it? And why is ripped?”
“I keep it because I loved you. I want to
tell you something; I not only returned to Earth because if Kai, I
also returned to see you. When I first left Earth all I had was your
letter, and I read it every night wondering how you were doing. I
wanted to see you so bad…but then all those things happened. I had
it in one of my drawers, but one day she found it and…well she tore
it up. I had to put it back together.”
“Kouin…”
“ Now, let’s get out of here before she
comes.”
“Kai?”
“Yes…she is a little nervous.”
“She destroyed the painting, right?”
“I didn’t think about it…but you're
probably right.” He remembered what she'd said about seeing them
make love. “I’m such a fool, I never suspect anyone.”
“Because you think everyone is like you,
cutie.” Yukata rubbed his nose with Kouin’s and then he walked out
with his beloved holding his hand finding Kai on the way.
“What is HE doing here? I am your mate, not
him!”
“Calm down Kai. Kou only…”
“You shut up! Get out of my room now!”
“We were leaving.” Kouin took Yutaka by the
waist and she spotted their matching necklaces getting even angrier.
“What is that?” She pointed at Yutaka’s
necklace.
“It's a gift from Kouin. It's very pretty,
right?”
“It’s…it’s horrible!” She quickly reached
out and grabbed his necklace, breaking it with only one pull. “Look
what I did with it!” The stones bounced as they hit the floor one by
one and the noise echoed inside Yutaka’s head breaking his heart so
fast he couldn’t even realize it.
“NOOO! Kouin!!!” He started crying and
tried to grab the stones. “You idiot!”
“How could you Kai? That was a gift, you
had no right!”
“You see this necklace I have? You gave
this to me and I still have it; that means YOU are MY mate! You just
can’t go giving necklaces to every idiot that steps before you!!
Understand???”
“I told you I don't love you anymore, that
you and I were no longer together! You…you're sick!” He bent down
and helped his lover pick up the rest of the stones. “Don’t cry,
love, I’ll fix it.” Yutaka nodded but still had tears all over his
face. “Come on.” Kouin helped him up and guided him outside the
room. “She is becoming a real pain in the ass.” Kouin kissed his
lips and clean his tears softly trying to calm him down.
