Skyline: The light at the top of the Space Needle flashes.Plot: Kate has denied the support staff at KACL, such as Roz and Noel, their annual 5% pay rise. They decide to strike and Frasier ends up getting himself involved as their spokesman after Noel, the original choice, faints. Realising he can't act alone, he invites the other on-air talent such as Gil or Bulldog to his apartment to get them to help him. They are reluctant at first, but they agree when Martin uses a bit of reverse psychology on them. Next day Frasier confronts Kate and makes his demands. This soon however turns into a personal attack on each other, and both Frasier and Kate wonder why they can't get on with each other. Then suddenly - they kiss!!! Confused, Frasier runs out. He must return the next day to sort out the negotiations, and the two accuse each other of arrogance and manipulation. Then they kiss again as they realise they have an attraction to each other. Quickly getting the pay discussions out the way, Frasier and Kate get down to more serious business on the desk….. Subtitles: Couldn't We Just Stop Eating Grapes; The Bloodless Coup; I Draw The Line At Blanche Dubois. It's Maris!!! Maris has found a grey hair and blames it on Niles, who turned on the light while she undressed. Plus one of Maris' house boys had an appendix problem, so she sent him back to the border - at her own expense. Trivia: This is the first episode directed by Jeff Melman, and the first 2 parter on the show where the episodes have different names (as opposed to a "Part 1" and a "Part 2"). Gil meets Daphne and Martin for the first time. Bulldog barks at Eddie and gets him off Martin's chair - well, Eddie did bark first. Noel dreams of leading the crusade against Kate, and we learn he can faint at will. We also see Cheryl and Floyd the Happy Chef, who gets a mention next episode as well when Frasier fills in for him. Floyd has apparantly replaced Leo (mentioned in Ep 41 "Someone To Watch Over Me") as the Happy Chef. And this is part one of two, folks….. |
