When Daphne Met Frasier

The character Dr Allen takes his last name from Kelsey Grammer's real first name.

Martin's birthday is revealed to be May 13th 1932 - my grandmother's first birthday.

Roz's address is 22b Boston Street. Sherlock Holmes lives at 22b Baker Street, and Frasier had recently moved from Boston - Boston Street!!!

Mother's Day

The character Lt Bailey takes his last name from the co-author of the book Goodnight Seattle (not connected with this site), David Bailey.

Niles' note was taken from an episode of The Simpsons, where Lisa received a similar note from her substitute teacher.

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Roz calls Leigh, the sales assistant, "Pooky." This is the name of Garfield's teddy bear in the comic strip Garfield, my all time favourite cartoon.

Frasier and Martin use Hyde's Mail Orders. The company is named after David Hyde Pierce (Niles).

On the tree there is a bauble marking every year from Martin and Hester's engagement to the present. This is a family tradition of mine.

Season's Greetings

Niles has a neighbour in apartment 4S in the Montana. This was the name of my class when I started watching Frasier.

My dog stares at his Christmas presents too (we wrap them up and put them under the tree), so of course Eddie had to do the same.

December 17th is my mum's birthday.

When Martin Met Hester

Part 1:

The character Lt Casey takes his last name from co-creator of Frasier Peter Casey.

Hester's maiden name - Winslow - is Frasier's middle name. The origin of his middle name revealed!!!

The opera Marty and Hester go to was mentioned in Ep 43 "Someone To Watch Over Me."

The cop Harry Johnson shares his name with a kid in my brother's class in school.

Part 2:

Hester's father, David, is named after the "three Daves" - co-creators David Angell and David Lee, and of course David Hyde Pierce (Niles).

Dave Winslow mentions Dt Lee. This guy takes his last name from co-creator of Frasier David Lee.

Lt Casey mentions that Joe Pearson is in Room 29. The first episode of Frasier I saw was Ep 29 "Duke's, We Hardly Knew Ye."

Hester's uncle's middle name is Frasier. That's where the name comes from!!!

Hester's brother in law is called Royston. I thought it would be funny for a snob like him to be "Uncle Roy" in the future when his nephews are born.

A sign says "Elliot Bay Towers. Under Construction. Due Complete November 1952.". The Elliot Bay Towers is of course where Frasier and Martin will end up living after 1993, 43 years later. 1952 is Frasier's birth year and November is the month of my birthday.

Martin Senior is a cop, Lorraine is a nurse. These are the same jobs as my parents.

When talking about how he and his parents aren't that close, Martin says, "If I ever have kids, I swear that will never happen to them.". The sad irony is of course that it does happen.

Vivian has bought a record that she plays again and again. My brother does this :-). She is 13 - just like my brother - and Walt is 17 - how old I'll be in November this year (2001).

A little joke about Martin's mum - I just thought "Lorraine Crane" sounded funny.

Dr Ranberg and Sgt Burrows share their last names with Frasier writer Chuck Ranberg and Cheers co-creator Frasier director James Burrows.

Part 3:

Martin asks Hester if she wants chocolate cake - my favourite dessert!!!

Lorraine says about Hester, "She was such a sweet girl." In Back To The Future Part 1, Lorraine McFly says about her son's girlfriend Jennifer "She's such a sweet girl."

Martin orders a bacon sandwich - my brother's favourite.

Martin says jokingly he'd have lent his siblings to Artie if they'd known each other when they were younger. I say this to a few of my friends who are only-children.

Martin likes to decorate OTT at Christmas - something he still does in the show.

Martin's proposal was just as he mentioned it in Ep 109 "The Ski Lodge".

Part 4:

Martin mentions Hester's Aunt Louise - this is great aunt Louise who died in Ep 51 "Martin Does It His Way".

Dr Franklin Creen, KACL's first ever radio shrink, has the same name as the character based on Frasier in Diane's play in Ep 61 "The Show Where Diane Comes Back."

Hester tells her sister "The doctor is in" - this a reference to the Peanuts strips where Lucy is Charlie Brown's "doctor".

The vicar at the church is Rev Thomas. I had to put myself in somewhere!!! :-)

Martin's full name is Martin John Crane Junior. John is my middle name (yes, that's what the J stands for!!!) and is also a reference to John Mahoney.

Part 5:

I just had to have Martin and Hester (almost) visit Cheers. :-)

The three year old boy "Clifford" and his mother are the younger versions of Cliff Clavin and his mother Esther! Of course Cliff does become both a Cheers regular and a mailman!

The restaurant above Cheers is called Chez Poubelles and is in the future site of Melville's, the restaurant currently above Cheers. The joke here is that poubelle in French means "dustbin"!

Mrs Cookson is named after Catherine Cookson, one of my mum's favourite authors.

It is revealed to be a Tuesday - the day of the week I typed part 9 (coincidentally, also the day I uploaded it onto the web!)

Lorraine's attitude to the baby's sex and how she is right all the time is based on my dad, who is right most of the time. I don't know how he does it either :-)

Mrs Cookson's fear of radios is based on the caller Stephen (voiced by Ron Howard) in Ep 130 "Good Samaritan" who thought people were talking to him through his radio.

Joe Pearson was first mentioned in Part 3.

Back to Seattle

Part 1:

Niles and Maris' phone number is 555-6453. All TV phone numbers begin with 555, and the 6453 bit is NILE. So the phone number is 555-NILE!!!

I have a friend named Scott, and he know a girl named Florence whom he doesn't like that much. So of course the evil side of me made them husband and wife..... :-)

Part 2:

Dan tells Frasier he will be replacing "Gareth Thomas, the popular talk show host who's retiring on May 20th" I just wanted to put myself in the story somehow!!! :-)

Dan is staying at the Burrows hotel, named after Cheers co-creator and Frasier director James Burrows. His room is 136 - the date I wrote Part 2, June 13th, the 13th day of the 6th month. Hence 136.

Part 3:

Frasier is staying at the Jolly Gardener Motel. This is a name I use quite often for motels and such in my stories (not just my fan fictions, but also English stories as well!).

Frasier thinks about Eddie staring at Niles, and is pleased Eddie doesn't stare at him. Of course, we know what will happen.....

Gil refers to Maximillian's, the restaurant he reviewed in his first ever episode, Ep 23 "Frasier Crane's Day Off".

I took the name Kevin Sinclair from the author of one of my dad's books on the bookcase next to the computer!

Mary the servant has been mentioned before.
