INFORMATION COMMUNICATION

   

Year 7 students study Information communication in their first term. In this topic students will learn how to

 

  present information

  handle information

  understand functions and forms of software and hardware

 

Overall, students will learn various styles of of writing and presentation. They will use different types of information to practice presentation, layout techniques and the standard ways of working.  

 

Information communication involves the basics on computers:

 

   Logging on to the network

   Loading a program

   Exiting a program

   Creating folders

   Saving files

   Accessing saved files

   Closing a window

   Maximising/Minimising a window

   Accessing shared data

   Spell checking

   Proof reading

   Highlighting text

   Changing text sizes

   Changing the font

   Using bold, italics and underlining

   Centering text

   Cutting/Pasting text

   Using the undo button to correct mistakes

   Saving a document

   Returning to a document that has been saved

   Printing 

   Using the zoom control

   Inserting/Resizing/Moving a picture

   Using the keyboard effectively

 

Computers are a huge part of our lives and students will learn a wide range of skills which will enable them to use computers effectively.
