Drawing Packages
Drawing packages are those which produce _______. In these packages, the graphic elements, such as_______, _______, rectangles, are defined mathematically. A line drawn using a vector graphics package is defined as an instruction to draw a line from point A to point B. These points are referred to as the co-ordinate geometry of the element.
In a drawing or picture created using a drawing package, the individual shapes can be ______, sized and______ separately from each other. They can be put on top of each other in______ if required. Because the shapes are defined mathematically, they can be_______ or made______ without any loss of resolution. When a shape is resized, its co-ordinate geometry is recalculated.
Vector graphics require______ storage space than bitmaps.
Vector graphics are used to produce elements such as lines and boxes by business graphics presentation packages such as_______ and _______. Vector graphics are also used in CAD packages such as Autocad and Generic CAD.
Business Graphics Packages
Business graphics packages frequently combine features of both the painting and drawing packages. Typical examples are________ , _______ and __________.
Drawing features allow shapes such as lines, circles and boxes to be used to create organisation _______, ________ charts and simple_________ diagrams.
Business graphics packages can be used to produce charts or graphics to display data, in a similar way to the graphs and charts produced by spreadsheet packages such as ______ and ______.
A common use of business graphics packages is to produce charts or _______ to be used as part of a lecture or other presentation. These slides can contain text, graphics or pictures and can be produced as acetates to be displayed using an overhead projector. Many packages include templates to help you prepare slides.
Painting Packages
Painting packages are _______ packages. The pictures produced by these packages are held as _______. This means that the image is formed and stored as a ______ of _______ or pixels. Text included in an image of this type is also stored as a bitmap.
________ ________is an example of a painting package. The ________ ________ supplied with many packages is in the form of bitmaps. ________ which are used to scan drawings and images also produce graphics in bitmap form.
Bitmap graphics consists of ________. Scaling or _______ the _________ of the image can cause problems. As the image is enlarged, the dots are moved further apart and the image becomes less well defined. Lines which appear _______ in the smaller image are seen to be ________ in the larger version. Expanding the image can adversely affect its resolution. (Resolution means the picture quality)
Painting packages are very suitable for freehand _______ and producing _______ with shaded or toned areas which can be added using brush or spray features. Facilities are also included to allow the _______ of images by erasing areas or by changing the colours.
Bitmap images require a considerable amount of storage space - each dot is stored as a bit. An image containing 8000 bits of information will produce a 1000 byte file.
