Record Ambassadeur 5000 Model SGThe legendary ABU reel. The first Ambassadeur. The reel that started it all ! This reel was made in 1953 and it was the first of the Ambassadeur range of multipliers from ABU. (Note the "MOD. SG" stamping at the bottom of the left side plate.) The Record Ambassadeur mark the important transition of ABU from the Records era into the Ambassadeur era. They were made in 1952 to 1958. The first model being the Record Ambassadeur 5000 Mod SG which was made for only 1 year in 1952. The reel was only sold in the Swedish market which makes it very rare. The Record Ambassadeur 5000 was released outside Sweden for the first time in 1953. The Record Ambassadeur 6000 was introduced a year (1954) after the Record 5000 to cater for the needs of fisherman requiring higher capacity.
