Poems by Ilya Shambat
This page contains poetry by Ilya Shambat. Most of the poems have romantic theme; others deal with topics from philosophy and spirituality to science, with some speaking to all these subjects at once.
In all of my poetry, I seek to attain three things: Beauty, passion and meaning. One of my favorite techniques is extended metaphors that discerns in one aspect part of the universe something resembling what exists in another part of the universe - and thus see universal truth as expressed through both. I also favor emotional impact and vivid imagery, as well as heartfelt sentiment combined with intellectual thought. I believe that poetry does not belong to a period or a century or a decade but is universal and eternal, and I seek to recapture the inspiration informing poetry eternally even as I seek to transmit inspiration I myself see.
I hope you enjoy my work.
