1998 Some of our guests have changed their e-mail address since their stay, being impossible for us to get the new one Tamara, Brad and family - USA - December 23, 2000/ January 1, 2001tambra@gol.com Dear Helena and Fernando Thank you so much for the use of your apartment. We enjoyed our stay in Lisboa in spite of the weather. I hope we are able to visit again sometime when it is warm and sunny. Best wishes for the New Year. "Arigató gozaimasa" - Thank you very much, in Japanese. Tamara and Brad We have traveled to many places in Europe and Japan and your apartment, the way you treated us, the information you left for us to read, and the places you recommended made our trip the greatest! Vincenzo & Stefano Steve Byfield and family- UK - October 24/29, 2000 Steve.Byfield@leeds.gov.uk Dear Fernando and Helena, Thank you for all your help. We really enjoyed our stay in Lisbon and we hope to return as much as possible. Check out Kingsira Records on the Rua da Alfandega, nº 114 (this is a message to any future guest who love reggae music). Steve Byfield, Shelagh, Mass, Joton and Dexter B. May Kristin Vespestad and friends - Norway - October 16/23, 2000 mvespestad@hotmail.com Dear Fernando and Helena, Thank you for a wonderful stay in your apartment. We have had a pleasant week in Lisbon. Hopefully we will be back sometime in the future. Thank you for all your help and hospitality. Kariane, May Kristen, Camilla, Elisabeth, Laila Beate, Trygre, Anton Mitzy Sandel and Raymond Kroes - Netherland - September 29 / October 3, 2000 mitzysandel@hotmail.com Dear Fernando & Helena We stayed for four nights, enjoying Lisbon and it's night life, food and port wine. Especially the last has had our full and undivided attention. Thank you for your tips and advise and the address for further stay as the apartment was not available for the full length of our stay in Portugal. We felt very much at home over here. Reymond & Mitzy Karin Roodt and friend - South Africa - September 14 and 17/20, 2000 karin@nac.co.za Dear Fernando & Helena Thank you for a wonderful stay in your apartment. It was absolutely perfect! We loved Lisbon and Portugal. Kind regards Karin Roodt Amanda Meyer PS: The "Beefeater" restaurant in Cascais makes a perfect prawn salad! Kim Kruckel, husband and children - USA - July 17/26, 2000 kimkruckel@home.com Thank you Fernando and Helena for accommodating us so suddenly. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area, the facilities in the apartment and the easy access to the center of Lisboa via metro and buses. Some favorites: Cervejaria Portuguesa near Pra. Martim Moniz and a little lunch place called "O Brunhal" on 21, R. da Glória, near the "Elevator da Glória" and Praça dos Restauradores. Molly and Camille, our daughters, like the pastries everywhere. Danny really loves the "Museu da Marinha" in Belém - wonderful. Pocket biographics: Danny is a computer analyst, Kim a community organizer. We're from Berkeley, California. These drawings (on the guestbook) are by our two girls. Our 10 days in this apartment have been a tranquil and comfortable conclusion to our 6 week vacation in Portugal. We were so lucky to find it, we had no idea where we would stay and we walked all around the hot, narrow, confusing streets of Evora to find Ciberevora, so we could look on the internet for a place to stay. And, fortunately, the apartment was free! On our trip we have spent a lot of afternoons in "Municipal Piscinas" and they were fantastic; affordable, clean, with places to have a drink and a snack. We also took advantage of the "ludoteca" - a place to leave our kids to play for an hour or two. Th beaches of Cascais, vineyards + terraced hillsides of the Douro Valley, the glacier valleys of "Serra da Estrela",the dinosaur footprints, the night life and the concerts and fabulous (but hot) Évora, where we saw the bullfight (we loved it!) and the 6000-year-old Cromlech... these are some of our great memories and experiences of Portugal. It goes without saying that Helena and Fernando are the perfect hosts! The tips of things to do with kids is particularly helpful. We hope that you can visit California some time! Fondly Kim Bruckel Danny Baptista Molly Baptista Camille Baptista Astrid Bainathsah - Holland - July 13/16, 2000 amazonia@worldonline.nl Dear folks, It was a pleasure "meeting you in the cyberspace" and finally in person! Warm couple. Cozy place!! I had a very peaceful stay here and especially my trip to "The Fátima", which I dedicated to my sick sister, gave me hope again in life. To the catholic guests I would say: It's worth seeing and experiencing it! Take the bus (special bus) in the town (Saldanha is nearby!) and get on the 12 o'clock bus. You can enjoy everything there and return "fulfilled with joy in your hearts" with the 5 o'clock (pm) bus. Cost: 2500$00 PTE return! Love you all. Astrid Bainathsah Cettina Gauci and family - Malta - June 29 / July 2 and July 9/13, 2000 cgau1@um.edu.mt Dear Helena + Fernando, Thanks for your hospitality. We like Portugal a lot. We have been around very much. We like your weather best, sunny with a breeze from the Atlantic. Hope to come back. See you in Malta perhaps? Cettina Gauci and family Stan Orrell and wife - USA - June 26/28, 2000 Dear Fernando + Helena, Thank you for your hospitality. So nice to be able to get organized and adjust to the time change in a real apartment. Therefore driving away to explore more of the Iberian Peninsula. Portugal, so far, is wonderful. Stan Orrell + Wife - Albuquerque, USA Valerie Fodor and family - Canada - June 25, 2000 labonte@intergate.bc.ca Dear Helena + Fernando Well, we were only here one night, but this place was the perfect solution for our last night in Portugal. It's a pity we couldn't have stayed longer... next time. Thanks for all your help - what with all the emailing back + forth I felt like I knew you a little even before we arrived; it was great to meet you in person! Valerie Fodor - Vancouver, Canada Octavian Popescu - Vancouver, Canada Victor + Neia Popescu - Bucharest, Romania Jen Lucero and friends - USA - June 15/16, 2000 Helena + Fernando Thank you for giving us a place to stay. It was extremely nice to be able to sleep in a real bed after all those night trains. And, of course, being able to use a shower. We had a very nice stay in Lisboa. Enn Martindale - Washington, USA Jen Lucero - California, USA Jenny Shaffer - California, USA Michael and Laura - Canada - April 27/30 and May 27/29, 2000 mmayne@cc.UManitoba.CA Dear Helena + Fernando, We are really happy we stayed at your flat. We planned only 3 days but stayed 5. Not quite like it sounds as the first 3 days in April were due to an International Rail Strike. The latter part of the stay we added an extra day because we were happy to get away from the hustle in Turkey. Your place is great as well as Lisbon. A note for Giorgio and Martina, from Italy. We really appreciated your company + help. Hope to see you in Italy. Cheers Michael + Laura Sara Stew - Canada - May 19/25, 2000 sisterofnight101@yahoo.com Dear Fernando and Helena Thank you so much for my stay here in Lisbon. This city is just as I imagined it... enchanting and absolutely breathtaking. This apartment has a great location and is very comfortable. Your kindness is very much appreciated and I look forward to visiting here again soon. Ciao and thank you again. Sara Stew Corbin, John and Ricardo - USA - May 5/7, 2000 ChiRunRed@aol.com Dear Fernando and Helena I really enjoyed our stay bicycling here. Though we were the only people in town on bikes!. The city is very attractive :) and the vistas from the city's high spots were wonderful. The bike ride down Rua Marquês da Silva made the ride up seem less grueling. Enjoy. John Jones Dear Fernando, We had a great time! Biking around Lisbon is a challenge but we did it anyway. We biked around to many of the neighborhoods including Alfama, Graça, Saldanha, Rato and Bairro Lopez. We got many stares due to the bikes and our helmets, which no one wears. We went to the Flea Market, at São Vicente and enjoyed many restaurants with local flair. Thanks for the use of your place! Corbin Woodling Dear Fernando Lisboa is beautiful! Your advise was perfect, we saw a lot of the city. Cycling was trying but fun. Recruit more cyclists - if they dare. Your place was perfect for us. Thank you. Ricardo Mercado Giorgio Grassi and wife - Italy - April 23/May 2, 2000 gragior@hotmail.com Dear Helena and Fernando, Thank you very much for your hospitality. We have appreciated very much your idea to rent the apartment. Lisbon is a nice city and we appreciated very much its surroundings - Cascais, Sintra, Óbidos - and we are happy to have had all the time to see those places. We hope to come back again to visit Lisbon and other parts of Portugal. OBRIGADO. Giorgio and Martina Sven Sziedat and wife - Germany - April 24/26, 2000 sven.sziedat@de.unisys.com We stayed here for just 2 nights. Fernando and Helena, thanks for your warm hospitality and the good tips about Lisbon. Silke & Sven Leif Rokkum and wife - Norway - April 16/19, 2000 l.r.rokkum@usit.uio.no We have stayed here for 3 nights and we have enjoyed this comfortable apartment. Thank you. We'll be back sometime. Ulmi and Reidar Rokkum Barbara Lenz, husband and mother - Austria - March 31/April 4, 2000 barbara.lenz@care.at Dear Helena + Fernando! We very much enjoyed staying at your comfortable apartment. Unfortunately the weather was not great so we could not enjoy this beautiful city as much as we wanted to. Barbara, Gerbi + Clemens PS: For Fado we recommend "Nono", at Rua do Norte. The food was (just) OK and the Fado music original! Laurens de Bever, wife and children - Netherlands and Switzerland - February 16th/23th, 2000 laurens.de-bever@systor.com Friends have told us that one cannot spend more than two days in Lisbon. However we are sorry to leave after 7 days, because there is still so much that we would like to see and do. We especially liked the beautiful museums: our favorites are the fado houses, the tile museum and the aquarium ( the last one being pretty expansive but certainly worth it). Also we enjoyed your very cosmopolitan supermarkets with the generous opening hours - something where Switzerland is still decades behind. We always had lunch in very tiny restaurants; we don't remember names, our only criteria was that they offered several main courses not more expansive than 1 000 escudos. We usually had no idea about what to order but we never got disappointed. We also were pleasantly surprised by the nice weather in February: 7 days of sunshine with temperatures above 20 C. The apartment was ideal for us with 2 young children. I certainly hope that many more such initiatives all over the world will be made available through Internet. Laurens de Bever, Philly Brooijnans, Lisa & Nina de Bever Jaslt and Bjorn Jensen - Kristiandsand, Norway - January 28th/31th, 2000 bjorn-olav.jensen@marhyd.com We were quite surprised that it was so warm in Lisboa in January. Nice sun the whole weekend, but a little bit cold in the morning. Coming from cold Norway it was nice to meet the Spring here. We would like to have more time because there is so much to see. But traveling with the subway, trams and walking 12 hours each day, our legs need some rest. Nice town, cheap prices, nice people, we will recommend Lisboa to everybody. So, Fernando, I think you will hear more from our friends in Norway. Jaslt and Bjorn Olav Jensen |
