Fernando and Helena,
Thank you for opening your home to two traveling Americans... not an easy thing to do in this political climate! Everything was perfect, especially your Lisbon Guide, which directed us throughout the city and beyond.
Best.

Dear Helena and Fernando,
This has been a wonderful first visit to Lisboa for us.
The apartment is so convenient with the Metro so near and shopping just around the corner.
We have really enjoyed ourselves.
Thank you both so very much.

We really liked to stay here. You have lots of freedom when you are in an apartment. We especially liked Sintra, the old districts in the center and the Aquarium. Since we had a baby of almost 9 months with us, we had a lot of attention. babies are very popular here, even "macho" men laughed at Lara, our daughter. Portuguese people are very helpful and nice to tourists.
Thank you Helena & Fernando for your "Travel Guide". We will certainly recommend this to friends of ours.
Thank you!

Lisbon is such a beautiful city. We wish we could spend more time. The apartment was in such convenient location and it didn't take us long to get acquainted. The open air tour bus was the perfect start so that we could see how the city was laid out.
Best regards

Dear Helena, Fernando and David,

What a find this apartment was! It makes a huge difference to be able to come home at the end of the day and relax, which just doesn't seem to happen in hotels. One thing your apartment had that just made our days better was really hot water. Having traveled in Spain and Italy over the years, a hot shower was always lacking - but here heaven!
It's been great to return to Lisbon. I was here once, about 8 or 9 years ago, when I was on a summer exchange in Badajoz, Spain. It remains charming as ever. With buses, trams, trains and ferries you can get anywhere you want to go without a car (we made it to Mafra, Queluz, Sintra, across the Tagus and Fatima).
The weather was better than expected. When we left Washington, there were 5 inches of snow on the ground; temperatures in the 60s or 70s were welcomed!
I personally enjoyed Lisbon's architecture, especially the baroque churches or palaces, something we never see at home. Pretty much everyone we came across was friendly and helpful, which made our trip even better.
Hope the apartment renovations go well!
For other visitors - places we liked:
1 - Palace/Monastery at Mafra
- The library is worth a visit!
- If you go, there's a good restaurant near the complex. If you go out the front door of the basilica, you come out on the Praça da Republica. Go to the far end; on the corner  there's a pink building which houses the "Cafe de Paris". I had great octopus! The staff was very kind and the restaurant was clean and crisp.
2 - The "Museu do Azulejo"
Who knew tiles could be so interesting?
It was a surprise hit on our tour of the city. The Church within it (Madre de Deus) is stunning.
3 - Palácio Fronteira (Lisboa)
Beautiful tiled gardens - Neat to see an historic house which is still lived in and loved by the owners.
4 - Palácio de Queluz
The day we went, it was basically just us, except for a group of little school children playing out in the gardens.

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home. The location was perfect and we found everything we needed to make our stay "lovely". This is a beautiful country and our kids thoroughly enjoyed ALL the sightseeing of castles and palaces. This has been a relaxing 5 days and one we needed after being in Zimbabwe for 4 years. We are now on our way home "America". May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you as you trust and love Him.
Love.
