Fernando & Helena,
Thanks for a great "home away from home". We enjoyed the sights, found
the apartments where Chuck had lived 25 years ago, and learned to drive
like the locals! Thanks for the excellent tips in your Lisbon guide.
They were very helpful. We had a fabulous time.

Here are our helpful tips:
1. You do not need your passport when purchasing tourist passes
for the metro/tram/bus. We bought ours at Campo Grande Metro Station and this
was the case.
2. If going to
Shopping Center "Colombo" take the #67 Bus home to Campo Grande.
Previously reported as Bus #3 - this is wrong! "Colombo" and "Vasco da
Gama" are both great for strolling.
3. When in Sintra -
Bus #434 costs € 3,70 for all day. Make all stops on way up. When you
reach the last stop (Pena Palace) the Bus does not go back the same way
- only back to the Train Station.
At Pena Palace it is worth paying the € 1,50 to take the train
both ways -
long steep walk up!
The view from the top of stairs at the Moorish is really worth the walk.
4. Back to tip #1 -
the tourist pass (4 or 7 days) starts on the day you buy it or first use
it - so buy it in the morning to get full day's value.
5. We took the
overnight hotel-train both ways from Madrid (Madrid - Lisbon - Madrid) -
bought the deluxe package which includes dinner, breakfast -
sleeper with
toilets and shower. Saves 2 nights of paying for accommodation and food -
so is really a good, comfortable deal if you are traveling to Madrid.
6. Expo 98 site is
worth it! Fantastic. Good food court and juice Bars upstairs at Vasco da
Gama Shopping Center
7. Enclosed colored
card is a good restaurant for seafood - we had octupous and grilled
salmon.
Thanks
Helena and Fernando - we appreciated the spacious unit.

Fernando's brief is
excellent - this unit is a great place to come home to rest our weary
feet - this full time tourist regime is not easy and I'll be glad to go
back to work for a rest.

Dear Helena and Fernando,
First of all thank you very much for all the info, tips and help with
preparing our trip. The flat was a great base and so useful to have the
supermarket in such close proximity. Lisbon is a fantastic city, so much
to see and do, great public transport, delicious food, friendly people.
Our recommendations for future guests:
1 - Try the 25 tram as well as the infamous 28 - much quite,
fewer tourists, great views, lovely garden at Estrela.
2 - Don't miss the pastries in Belém and do walk to the back of
the café - dozens of pretty tiled rooms to see.
3 - In Cacilhas (ferry from Cais do Sodré, 65 cents!), go and eat
in A Cabrita, 87 Rua Candido dos Reis - fantastic fresh fish, very
reasonable prices, much better than the touristic restaurants you see
when you get off the ferry.
4 - Lovely dear beaches at Estoril,
gorgeous weather even at the end of September, only 30 minutes from Cais
do Sodré. Water is cold!!!
Finally, do watch out for pickpockets - we saw them in action, very
slick. And don't believe everything they say at the tourist office -
they sent us to places that were closed, forgot to say that all museums/national
monuments were free the following day!
Thanks again and hopefully we'll be back!

Dear Fernando & Helena,
Many thanks for you friendly hospitality and the info provided. This was
invaluable and insured us of a full and fun packed holiday, which
included trips to all the major attractions, including visits to Sintra,
Óbidos and Sesimbra. I've found that we
could venture easily to these places on
the marvelous system.
Our journey took us to Expo 98 site where we experienced a sumptuous
meal and we spent a night in Baixa-Chiado, to experience a night of Fado
Music.
The apartment was a real home base for us as we overall returned tired and
foot weary after our days sightseeing. It was nice to return each night
to the place we called "home".
Thanks a head.

Many thanks for a lovely
base for our visit to Lisbon. We appreciate the great care you have
taken to give us (strangers) as much information as possible.
We took a guided bus tour to Lisbon - a good way to see the city. Went
up the Elevator and had lovely food in Campo Grande, beside Lisboa
university. Ask for Louis. Casa do Alentejo was lovely. We enjoyed the
rain also - used to it where we come from.

Have just spent two weeks
here and felt at home from the start. Its proximity to
the Metro is great and we made full use of it.
All four of our children slept well each night and enjoyed cating in the
apartment which was a great money-saver.
We are moving down to Alvor next for 2 weeks and hope the accommodation
is half as good.
We enjoyed "Eduardo VII" gardens a lot and felt everyone should visit
these at least once.
Best wishes.

Helena & Fernando & David,
Wow, we just arrived and already today we have met you all as well as
the family (the Radia's) who stayed before us. We are simply taking it
all and it's wonderful!!!
One day down and 3 to go and your tips and guides have been unmesurable. Your apartment is perfect and walking distance from
everything!
Toured Sintra and Cascais today - so beautiful the castles/palaces are
absolutely amazing. Castelo de S. Jorge truly a sight to see.
For 3 € the all day bus/train/subway ticket a steal. All of the city +
downtown included.
Thank you (obrigada) for the great time and helpful hints to an unbelievable
city.
Love.

Dear Fernando and Helena,
We would like to say a big thank you for your hospitality.
My parents had a great time staying in your beautiful apartment and we
made it "our home sweet home" for the last week.
It was convenient, as there is the metro station just a few minutes away
and the walk was enjoyable, especially after a full day
of sightseeing. Also the supermarket near by was good, so we could cook
as we wanted.
The apartment is very spacious and bright. We are definitely going to
recommend it to our friends and family.
We look forward to coming back and staying in your apartment again.
Love.

Dear Fernando & Helena,
Thanking you for making us feel so welcome. The information and advice
you gave us was invaluable and made our stay so much
easier, because without it we would had to go out find stuff for
ourselves. But we didn't have to do that.
Thank you from

Coming to Portugal just by
myself, without any persons I new there, and just due to curiosity to
visit this country I am very grateful to Helena and Fernando who helped
me to organize the stay.
I would like to say that it was MORE than just stay , as their apartment
and their friendly attitude made me feel like home.
Once again thank you for the wonderful stay in Portugal.
