Dear Helena & Fernando,
Thank you for making it so simple and enjoyable to come to Lisbon.
We have had an unforgettable week there and hope to return.
For any vegetarians reading this entry, have courage in your heart when walking the streets of Lisbon... There are some excellent vegetarian options hidden all over the city.
Thank you for your tips on Lisbon, they have been essential reading.
Very best wishes,

Robert and Francis

Clara Rodriguez and family - Kenya, Nairobi - August 1st/11th, 1999
rodriguez@form-net.com

Dear Fernando, Helena and David,
We seem to have been your first visitors from East Africa! We've had a wonderful time for almost a fortnight. The apartment has been great, convenient and... quiet!! (We really needed that!) Your climate has been pretty good (we always compare any climate on our travels, to Kenya - which has the most wonderful climate in the world - bright sunshine throughout the year, but very cool and comfortable!). Portugal's been really good on the pocket - everything almost 1/3 of prices in Kenya. This is our second visit and we hope to make more and more visits till we are really fluent in the language - and have eaten up every Portuguese dish in sight! Though we live in Kenya, we're actually from Goa (former Portuguese colony) and travel abroad virtually every 2 months - we hope to be back in Lisbon in 3 months time - if Helena will have us again! Thanks again guys. Cio!

Helena + Fernando,
We had a great time. After reading the previous entries in this little book of yours, we seem to be the youngest of all of your guests. While the rest of the travelers that are our age were roughing it in shady hostels in the Bairro Alto, we were leisurely relaxing in your cozy apartment.
We felt so at home here that we hardly left it. But when we did we got to see the unique aspects of the Portuguese nightlife.
The castle you recommended was cool also.
The apartment proved to be extremely convenient when it came to seeing the city of Lisbon.
We are extremely grateful. You made our trip to Lisbon a terrific one and we will always look back on it with fond thoughts of your crafty apartment.
Best of luck in the future 4C!!!
Thanks again. We are ever so grateful.

São and Rick Berkowitz and children - USA - May 12/17th, 1999
marvila@flash.net

Dear Helena and Fernando,
We cannot thank you enough for your hospitality in making our trip so memorable.
The accommodations and set up you provided made it a terrific time to share the memories of my childhood with our girls: Alexandra Luisa (6 yrs.) and Elise Mariele (3.5 yrs).
We found the apartment very quiet, comfortable with easy access to everything and safe for us to enjoy.
We look forward to many return visits as our daughters grow and Rick becomes fluent in Portuguese!
All our best.

Helen Fairhall and family - Camberra, Australia - April 27/30th, 1999

Dear Helena and Fernando,
Thank you for making the apartment up so that all of us could enjoy our stay together. Lisbon is a great city, our only major disappointment was our lack of fluency in Portuguese - we would have loved to talk to more people about their life here. We walked to S. Jorge Castle and the views were superb. We also visited the Gulbenkian, which has the best collection of Lalique jewelry well worth a visit, traveled to Evora - you wouldn't believe the Chapel of Bones at St. Francis.Who would bother to do something so macabre?

Thanks again

Steve + Mary Dee Stout + MD's mom - Austin, Texas, USA - April 18/22th, 1999
SSMDOL@aol.com

Dear Helena + Fernando,
Thank you so much for everything. You have made it so easy to travel to a foreign country and still have all the comfort of home.
We had a wonderful time in Lisbon, especially mom. At the age 78, this is her first time out of the country. Having such a nice place to stay made it easier.
We hope to see you again.

Graham and Margaret Burns and baby Lana - Port St. Mary, Isle of Man, British Isles - April 9/16th 1999
burns@mcb.net

We have had a splendid week although our weather started at 27°C and ended up at 14°C plus a splash of rain.
The apartment was perfect for us, allowing the baby to run around and wear herself out before crashing out for the night - although, she somehow managed to get the biggest bed!
We especially recommended a full day in Sintra - the trains are very regular, quick and cheap.
Thanks for everything.

Graham, Margaret and Lana

Stig W. Haukedal - Bergen, Norway - March 28th / April 6th, 1999
groom98@hotmail.com

Thanks a lot for an excellent week in Lisbon - starting with 17°C and ending up with 35°C the two last days (puh...). We have really been enjoying Lisbon, especially the parks, the restaurants, the city atmosphere, as well as the shops. We couldn't have done it without the "Passe Turistico" - which we warmly recommend. The Zoo and Parque Eduardo 7º were our favorite places and "Stravaganza" italian restaurant in Alfama our best "culinarian" experience.

Youetta de Jager and Jantien Delwel - Holland - March 13/19, 1999
jager@rullet.leidenuniv.nl

Apart from the first night we really enjoyed our stay in your apartment.
The second night we got to experience the nightlife of this area in avery spectacular way: the garage underground was on fire, so everybody had to go outside the building. In one evening, in more or less 2 1/2 hours, we got to know/see all the neighbors!
Lisboa is a very interesting charming city with lots of friendly people. Worth while coming back soon! Alfama is absolutely favorite!

Elsie and Rae Gaouette - Toronto, Ontario , Canada - March 11/14th, 1999

Well situated place with good access to subway and some shops.
We have to come back to Lisbon when the sun is shining, but despite the weather, it is a fascinating city of interesting and historical spots.
Thank you again. Come and see us in Toronto.

Rae and Else Gaouette

Ellie and Frans Ververs - Holland - January 23/30th, 1999
f.ververs@twi.tudelft.nl

Dear Helena and Fernando,
We enjoyed being in your apartment with all the facilities, especially with the new microwave, which is working fine.
With the electric blower we managed to warm the room comfortably during the evenings.
We have had a nice week in Lisbon. We saw a lot of interesting museums, such as the Museum with the "Coches", Gulbenkian Museum, where we also heard beautiful music at Sunday noon: piano music from Mozart, Fauré, Bartok and Prokofjev, played by Michel Gal.
Thursday evening there was in the same Gulbenkian , now in the Large Auditorium, a concert from Haydn " Die Schöpfung". Marvelous!
The garden around this building is of a high class, very quiet, with a great architecture. It is a good feeling to be there.
Friday we traveled to Sintra, a lovely little town.
We hope you will have a lot of guests in your apartment.
With best regards.

Ellie and Frans Ververs
