Kicking is a highly skilled and powerful form of defending and attacking, as your foot and shin has a longer reach that anyone's hands.
The Front Kick:To begin, start with a very basic kick, which is the front kick. When used with the right technique this can and will push anyone away from you, giving yourself time to counter attack or extra time to protect yourself against someone trying to attack you from the front. As you can see from the picture below, he brings up his knee parallel with the floor pushing the leg straight with his toes pointing up, only the pad or heel of the foot must be used to stick the bag, pad or body. After you have done this a few times you will soon be able you put all your body behind it giving you more power to push or strike the solar plexus area knocking the air out of him or her. After some time you will be able to bring your foot high to the chest, chin and face area.
The Knees:The knee is very much the same as your front kick front but this time you don't straighten your leg. Keeping your knee pointing in front of you, as shown in the picture below. Now think of your knee as a spike, which you're driving into the solar plexus area and face. This can also be done by grapping your attacker by the shoulder or neck pulling him or her into the knee.
