No matter what day it is Middleton Grange Primary School is a
very busy place … for staff and children! As one of the extension programme activities I will be taking
a group in using video to convey a message. They will be developing a video
presentation showing a day in the life of MGS Primary School … Middleton
Grange Primary School … This is your day! This will involve the use of
computers to produce a PowerPoint presentation, the digital camera for taking a
stills mock-up of the video content and the recently purchased primary school
video camera for To give you a taste of what does happen here on a Friday
morning, I have produced a small photographic record. This really does show you
the vast array of activities which are contained in the average school day. It
reflects the staff’s will to provide interesting and varied programmes to help
equip children to exercise their gifts and strengths in the wider world. From
Maori to Maths and Buddy activities to Baking they reflect the fact that the
Primary School is alive and well! The photos are of normal Friday morning programmes …
nothing was mocked up for the camera! As I went round photographing what was
going on, I couldn’t help but reflect on my own experience as a child at
school (yes, I do still remember). My overall feeling … I wish it had been
this interesting when I was at school. The Primary School has been blessed greatly by God in many
ways … children keen to learn, good physical resources, supportive parents and
a hard-working staff, to name a few. Cover all this with prayer and the school
will continue to move from strength to strength! John Stackhouse PS I will let you know when the video is available for borrowing to view. Due to the opening of the new secondary block on FRIDAY 3 MAY BUSES WILL BE RUNNING Please ensure your child is met at the bus stop. Congratulations We have a Judo expert in the Primary School. Kenga, Rm D, had great success at the recent NZ
National Championships: Silver medal in his weight division, and Silver medal
for South Island teams event. Well done Kenga! “IF I HAD MY CHILD TO RAISE
OVER AGAIN” I’d build self-esteem first and the house later. I’d talk
less about the love of power Anon.
WEARING OF
UNIFORM
Winter uniform is
worn in Terms 2 and 3 of each year. The uniform is an important aspect
of the school and helps set a good tone. As a staff we
have been reinforcing two aspects of uniform in particular lately: A jersey or polar fleece must be worn to and
from school. NOTE: Children have the choice of one or other. If it is
a ‘warmer’ day - they may opt to wear the jersey. If cold, the
polar fleece. Correct shoes must be worn to and from school
- not sports shoes. Please reinforce these aspects with your
child(ren).
PRIMARY SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY A great day had by all! Thank you to all parents/family
for your support on the day. A special thanks to Mr Diggs, in particular,
for making the day a great success! Marvelous to see so many competitors
taking part and the ‘fun runners’ in the two fun run events. Our congratulations to everyone and especially the
placegetters below. Our children will be competing in the Christian
Schools’ Cross Country and the Zone Cross Country soon. Girls 1st Katrina P
PARENTING ISN’T GETTING ANY EASIER!
Taken from a study of 2500 students aged 7-19 years, here are some
facts about 7-10 year olds: 31% reported sending/receiving email from someone they met on the
net. and Adult supervision at school, whilst using the internet: There was higher supervision for younger students. 33% never These are shockingly low supervision rates! The internet is a powerful tool but there are also many changes
lurking in often seemingly innocent places! In the Primary School our use of the internet is strictly supervised.
No children are allowed free access to internet sites or email. We
are well aware many sites contain harmful material. Additionally, the
number of factually inaccurate research sites, advertising sites, biased
sites, etc. means we must be very careful in our use of the internet. TAKE CARE! KING’S SWIM SCHOOL Is offering after school lessons during Term 2 2002, starting 15 April.
